The Tiburon Tidings eNewsletter

Greetings!

September has arrived and with school back in session the busyness of our lives starts to settle back into a routine. While we always look forward to breaks in the routine, summer and other holidays, there is something comforting about getting back to "normal". Church life is no different. We all need that important rest, even when our busy summer schedules don't feel like rest. As we move into the fall, there are some important projects beginning that help us function as a church.

We begin the process of selecting new deacons for the coming year. Please be in prayer about who you should nominate from our membership and your involvement should you be nominated. You will have opportunity on Sept 11 & 18 to nominate people from our congregation. They will be contacted beginning the week of Sept 19th and we will vote on those who have been nominated and have agreed to serve on Oct 2nd. Then on Oct 9th, we will participate in a very important commissioning service for our new deacons. If you would like to go ahead and send your nominations, click here.

We also move into our stewardship season this fall as we prepare our 2012 budget. You will be hearing from our stewardship committee and will have opportunity to learn about the budget process, the ministries we support, determine your 2012 commitment and finally vote on next year's budget on November 20th. Please begin to pray for this entire process as we demonstrate our faithfulness to God.

Have we mentioned that we are doing Experiencing God as a whole church this fall? I hope you have heard that and are already signed up. It is not too late. This coming Sunday is our launch. In addition to home groups on Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri, you have opportunity to join a group that will meet at the church on Sunday morning and afternoon along with Wednesday night options. Stop by the table in the Gallery and sign-up so that you can start with the rest of the group next week.

Our Newest Arrivals
moms

We have been waiting all summer for our newest additions to the church. Isabelle Lois Magtibay, William Otto Kroeker, and Colin Yuen-sze Lee have all arrived. We are still waiting on Baby Christman. We thank God for these special gifts to each of these families. Please pray for all of the adjustments that are made to accommodate new sleeping schedules among other things. Also pray for Rachel & Adam as they prepare for their addition. Blessing to each family on the arrival of your babies.

kids

With the beginning of school, we again begin Children's Worship for all 1st & 2nd graders. The group will begin in the sanctuary during the 11 am worship and then be dismissed after the children's time. The group will be meeting downstairs this year. Our 3rd graders and above will remain in the sanctuary for worship.

California State Missions Offering
cmo

The California Southern Baptist Convention is our state parent organization that coordinates ministries all over the Golden State. Each September we gather an offering that will assist with church planting, evangelism, ministry to migrant workers, resort ministries and many other opportunities to reach out to our California neighbors. You will be hearing and reading more about this important offering during September. We hope you will join us in this opportunity of support.

Parent Summit

If you're a parent who longs to be supported and better equipped to help your kids love God and respond to Him, then you'll want to set aside Saturday, Oct 22nd, for a time of sharing, encouragement, and training. TBC wants to partner with you in more significant ways so that we might better work together in this important responsibility. Whether you have a newborn or kids nearly grown, you will benefit from this time with God and with each other.

You'll learn about age-related discipleship needs of children, how to establish a regular devotional time in your home, and learn about resources that can help you along the way. There will be fun activities for your kids to do at the same time. Join us on Saturday, Oct 22nd, and watch for more details to come.

Ministries in September
youth

Our ministry focus for Sunday, September 25th, will be our youth & women's ministries.  On that Sunday, you will get a glimpse of what is coming in these two ministries and learn where you can get involved. We encourage our teenagers, their families and all the women of the church to look forward to learning more about these important TBC ministries.

Tahoe Resort Ministry & Tahoe City Baptist Church
For many years, Tiburon Baptist Church has been collecting and donating used ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners to Tahoe City Baptist Church. The money Tahoe City receives from recycling these items has been used to provide financial support for the church day school and other programs including 4 vans for transporting children to and from school. In addition, the church provides a preschool, a before and after school ministry equipped with computers, Big A Club, Parents' Night Out, My Morning Out, Bible studies, and church services at 6 different ski areas. The church averages ministering to at least 100 children each day year round. 80% of the children who attend these ministries do not go to church anywhere. The field is ripe and ready for harvest.

Their minister is retiring in a few years and they are concerned about the high cost of housing to bring on a new pastor. They are starting now to accumulate the funds necessary to provide housing for the family. They would appreciate your continued support by donating ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners in the box in the gallery. Bill & Jean Hagler will continue in delivering them to the church. Thanks for continuing to help us in this good work.

Word of Encouragement

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Wisdom

Can God really use me to change lives, build his church, and enlarge his kingdom? Absolutely yes--when you learn to live like a missionary right now, right where you are.
