The Tiburon Tidings eNewsletter

Greetings!

Our team arrives home from Africa on Saturday and we will likely hear a variety of stories about their experiences for the next several weeks. Such is the nature of life in the church. We are about story telling and it is important to remember that all of us have a story. I hope that God is doing a work in you that produces a story that needs to be told.

This week we co-host a group of 30 students and their leaders from Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, TX. They are on their summer youth mission trip and have experienced a wide variety of ministries during their short time in the Bay Area. They have worked on campus at the seminary and some in our preschool area as we reset everything now that Ring Mountain is gone. They were with us on Sunday morning in the early service and then headed off to a Cantonese service in the city. What a blessing this will be both to us and to each of them.

A couple of weeks ago we hosted an overnight stay for 10 cyclists who were riding from San Diego to Seattle to raise money and awareness for a water and HIV project in Kenya. They arrived during prayer meeting and we were able to hear from them and meet the members of the team. We fed them dinner as they were hosted by our own Samuel Mulli. He was able to give them a first-hand account of what life was like in his home land of Kenya.

What is your story? What is God doing in your life? Who is God putting in your life with whom he wants you to share? You don't have to have just returned from Africa or be riding a bicycle up the West Coast or be on a mission team from Texas. All you have to be is in tune with God, listening intently, and be sensitive to who God brings into your path. God is at work in you and he wants you to tell others about it. Tell your story to someone this week!

Youth Ministry Update
jordan

Our youth summer is off to a great start. It really began with a rainy day at Great America, but has continued as we meet weekly this summer. We hope all TBC youth will join us and you are encouraged to bring a friend. Our next outing will be on Thursday, July 7th, at the House of Air in SF. Details are being sent to all youth and parents. If you have not received the details, call Pastor Glenn at 415-342-3813.

In addition to Glenn & Michelle, Chris Seng has joined the team this summer to work with our guys.

Begin praying for our youth who will go to Centrifuge: Jordan, Mary, Maureen, Rachel, Christine, Tyler, Dasia, Zachary, Ryan, Amanda and Tyler (not a Fort). Pray for God to begin working in their hearts before they leave.

Ministries in July
japan

The ministry focus for Sunday, July 24th, will be our ministry to San Quentin and our Fellowship Team. If you are interested in becoming a part of the group that goes into SQ with the choir, you will have opportunity to sign up on that day. Also, you will learn more about the various activities that are under the watchful eye of our Fellowship Team.

Sports Camp is Over!
sports

Sports Camp in June was an incredible experience and proved to be even better than planned. The morning camp for children from various county churches was much bigger that anticipated with over 120 kids in attendance. The afternoon mission camp in the Canal was smaller than anticipated with a few over 120 kids in attendance. The smaller camp in the afternoon allowed for more manageable group sizes. In both camps, kids were able to learn new skills in basketball, soccer and cheerleading. However, the primary feature was the opportunity for the kids to learn some new songs, hear some fantastic testimonies and to learn about Jesus. Many children made first-time decisions for Christ. Be praying for the follow-up that is taking place in each of the respective churches with the families involved.

Children's Camp at Cazadero 2011
camp

Our kids head to Camp Cazadero for children's camp on Aug 1st. The deadline is past, but if you missed it, please let Pastor Brice know ASAP and he will see if he can still get you in. This is for all children who have finished 2nd grade through 6th grade and promises to be a life-changing experience that will become one memory that our kids will carry into adulthood. Everyone remembers their camp experience when other childhood memories fade. Don't miss this opportunity of a lifetime.

Word of Encouragement

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

 Matthew 22:34-40
