"What is the heart of the Good News? A place where a child can paddle and a giraffe is out of his depth."

                 Dr. Michael Green
Greetings!
Each year we celebrate Holy Week as the high point in the annual Christian calendar. We will gather on Palm Sunday at 8:30 & 11:00 am to remember the work of Christ as it began with His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We will gather on Maundy Thursday at 7 pm for an intimate time of sharing in the Lord's Last Supper with His disciples before they went out to the garden to pray. It was on that night that Judas betrayed our Lord and He was taken before the Jewish authorities for a mock trial. Later that night as Jesus had predicted, Peter would deny even knowing Jesus three different times. On Friday, Jesus was taken before Pilate and Herod before being beaten near death and ultimately nailed to a cross between two thieves where He died. We will again gather on Good Friday at 7 pm to once again rehearse the events of that historic day. Finally, we will gather on Easter Sunday at 8:30 & 11:00 am for a celebration of our Risen Lord. The clear understanding of the events of this week is of supreme importance to our clear understanding of our faith journey. It is our hope and prayer that you will prepare your heart to be touched afresh during this week. We also hope you will take advantage of this being the one or two times a year that many unbelievers attend church.

TBC Workday

flowers
Join us on Saturday, Apr 9, beginning at 9 am for our spring cleaning of our TBC facilities. We will be working inside and out including washing windows, replacing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, mowing and many other activities. Put on your old jeans, grab your gloves and we'll see you on Saturday.

Youth Ministry Alert

surf
Our youth will journey to Northgate on Sunday, Apr 10th, to view the new film that tells the extraordinary story of Bethany Hamilton and her amazing journey of courage that led her personal encounter with Christ. We will meet at the Northgate food court at 4:30 and go to the 4:55 showing. After the movie, we will gather in the food court to discuss the film and eat dinner. Bring $$ for the movie and food. Parents can pick students up at 8 pm. See Michelle or Amanda for more details.

April Ministry Focus

On April 10th, we will feature our convalescent home ministries that include our monthly visit to the Marin Convalescent Home and our weekly ministry to Kruger Pines. We will also feature our prayer ministries that will allow you to sign up to be a part of our phone prayer tree, be added to our email prayer alerts and encouragement to join our Wed night prayer group.
Tuesday Lunch Club

TLC, our senior adult ministry, will will be going to the Filoli Gardens on Tuesday, April 12th. You need to  RSVP by calling the church or emailing Delia to make sure transportation is sufficient. Everyone will meet at the church at 9:30 am to depart. The group will go to the cafe on the grounds for lunch.

Free Cone Day for Gilead House

b
On Tuesday, April 12th, head to Ben & Jerry's in the Bon Air Center in Greenbrae for your free cone of world famous Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. The event begins at noon and goes until 8 pm. You might see some of your favorite Gilead House celebrities scooping ice cream. The cones are free, but all proceeds from donations will go to our very own Gilead House. Since this is spring break for many of our kids, you will want to bring the whole family. We are proud to support such a worthy ministry as Gilead House. See you on April 12th.

Love Your Neighbor

Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment in the law. He replied "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." On Sunday evening, May 1st, we will not have evening service and you are invited to gather with your friends for a chance to love your neighbor. We want to encourage you to be praying for 3 people, 3 times a day for 3 minutes as we move toward this experience on May 1. We are providing an opportunity to assist you with ideas for your sharing during this time together this Sunday on April 10th, after the 11:00 am service. We will gather in the fellowship hall for a light lunch to pray and share some basic training and encouragement. We hope you will join us.

Disaster Relief Training

disaster

During recent prayer alerts regarding the tsunami in Japan, we have talked about our Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. In order to be prepared to participate, we include this info regarding the required training. A worker in a disaster area through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief must complete a Disaster Relief training course. Those completing the course will receive Disaster Relief identification which is required to enter a disaster area and a "yellow Disaster Relief hat" a Southern Baptist Disaster Relief distinctive. This training event is for new volunteers and for those who need to be retrained. The dates of the next training are May 4-7 in Clovis, CA. Click here to get the details and to register for the training event.

Explore Class

Are you new to faith in Christ? Are you new to TBC? Are you new to Baptist life? Are you simply exploring the claims of Christ and the inner working of the church? Then the Explore Class was made for you. We will begin the next installment of this four-week event beginning on May 8th at 9:40 am at TBC. If you have a friend who would be interested in learning the basics of the Christian faith and what it means to be a member of Tiburon, we hope you will invite them and join the class with them. If you are already in a class, join us for the four weeks and then return to your class. We will kick all this off with a short gathering on Sunday, May 1st, immediately after the 11:00 am service. Look for signs in the Gallery.

Parents Training Kids

kellers
Have you ever asked yourself, "What does it take to raise children?" If you're a parent, you've probably asked it many times. While no one has all the answers, as a community of faith, we want to address this issue with biblical standards and lean into the proven experience of those who are successfully raising children. Remember, parenting never really stops. On Saturday, May 14th, we will conduct a parent training workshop at TBC for parents with kids of all ages. Some of you who might not have kids yet are welcomed to join in the experience.

This training will be an opportunity for parents to grow in skills related to the spiritual markers and milestones in your child's life. We'll seek answers to questions like: What is the call of God for parents to disciple their kids? How do home and church combine to provide the essential environment of love, trust, and pointing young ones to God? How can you step into everyday moments to listen for God's movement in the heart of your child? How can you implement and sustain a regular devotional time at home?

There will also be great fun for your kids so bring the kids and make it a nice family day. Save the date on your calendar: Saturday, May 14. Stay tuned for more details from Pastor Brice as we prepare for this important time of training where all of us have something to learn.

Horn of Africa Update

dn
Details for the upcoming trip to the Horn of Africa are still being formed, but there are a few items that we can share at this time. Beth Singleton will travel in early May to assist Leda during a prayer conference she is leading for a variety of prayer coordinators from all across the Horn. The larger team that will travel on June 27 will be announced soon once the participants are finalized. You are asked to begin praying for Beth's trip and for the team trip coming later. Also, some of you who are unable to go on the trip will be able to support the team financially. You will be hearing more details regarding this opportunity very soon.

Young Life Golf Tournament

yl
Young Life is one of our valued partners in reaching teenagers in Marin County. On Monday, June 6, beginning at noon, we will participate in the fourth annual YL Golf Tourney. Grab your foursome and a registration form in the Gallery and we'll meet at Rooster Run in Petaluma for this annual fundraiser for Young Life Marin.

Word of Encouragement

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.
