Prayer Summit for the Horn of Africa

Tiburon Baptist Church will host the third Prayer Summit for the People of the Horn. The  Summit begins at 1 pm  on Thursday, Sep 23, and ends on Saturday afternoon, Sep 25. Sign up this coming Sunday in the Gallery or call 388-3900 to register. The cost for the event is $45 and includes all meals Thursday night through Saturday lunch and all conference materials. These are the details, but not the whole story.

The real question is why you need to be present. If you are new to TBC or if you've been here a while, you need to attend to get a glimpse of God's heart for the nations. You need to fully understand why we pray for a bunch of people who are scattered all over the world that make up our missionary family. You need to experience some practitioners who engage one of our primary people groups both in the US and around the world to fully comprehend why TBC responded to a challenge to adopt one of the most unreached people groups in the world. For God so loved the world He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. That is the primary reason you need to attend. Here is another.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 from The Message
TBC, Thank You!
I want to say thank you for allowing me to spend the Summer on sabbatical. It was a refreshing time of study, visiting a series of churches of various styles & sizes, and of rest. Dr. Stubblefield said it best in that sabbatical allows a break in the routine. Many of you asked how it is to be back and have acted surprised when I responded that it was really good to be back. There truly is no place like home. While every church has its issues, I would not trade ours for any of their's. I am grateful for the prayers for my family in the death of my uncle and for my sister who is still in a coma after a car accident. I want to thank everyone who helped shoulder my load during these past three months. But now, it's time to get back to work and get busy. I expect to see all of you at the Prayer Summit next week. Pastor Glenn
MEN'S MINISTRY
Hey guys, it's not late to join us on Thursday mornings for Bible Study at 6:30 here at TBC. Tom Cowley will lead our study beginning with the book of Ephesians.

This year, Men's Fraternity meets on Sundays at 4:30 pm, Thursdays at 7:00 pm (both at TBC) or Fridays at 6:00 am (at Goodells). Each of the three times will be going through The Quest for Authentic Manhood. Invite a friend. Check with Eric Kwok or Dan McLennon for more details.
Dinners for Seven
There is something to be said for sitting down and eating dinner; conversation flows and people become friends. To that end the Fellowship Team is sponsoring a series of home dinners around the county. We are calling it Dinner for Seven and the date is Saturday, Oct. 9th.

If you are interested in getting to know others at TBC, sign up in the gallery or contact Anne Pizzi at 898-1777 or [email protected]. This event is open to couples and singles.  After we have received our sign-ups, host homes will notify their party of seven of time and location. The host will provide the main course and each guest will supply a side dish.

Youth Update
The youth group kicked off the fall on a sad note as we said good-bye to Stephen & Meredith Church. However, a great time was had with fun and games and lots of food. We pray God's blessing on the whole Church family as they move to Maryland. Most of you know by now that we are in youth pastor search mode. The search committee was selected and are being gathered as you read this. Be in prayer for Amanda, Sean, Michelle, Allan and Dan as they provide leadership for our kids and also for Pastor Glenn as he leads the leadership team. See You At The Pole is Wednesday, Sept 22. Pray for all of our kids as they decide to take their stand at the flagpole on that morning to pray for their school, teachers and classmates. Help us get the word out that youth from all over Marin are welcomed to join us for the regular schedule and the special activities. The annual calendar will come out later this week.

Wisdom
If I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible that main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: "Men had forgotten God; that is why all this has happened."
 Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Word of Encouragement
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-I say this to your shame.
I Corinthians 15:33-34
