August 3, 2010

Dearest Church Family,
In case you missed church the past two Sundays, Amy and I will be leaving in the next few weeks.  We have been called by First Baptist Church in Canyon, TX to serve as the Interim Executive Student Pastor.  It is going to be extremely difficult for us to leave our loving TBC family.  We will miss you so much!  It is our hope to continue our relationship with our friends at TBC from afar.  If you would like to read more about our move, please read the letter I sent to Dr. Shouse and the Personnel Committee.  We love you and will miss you!

Sincerely,

Reed, Amy, and Noah

Special Time with the Redus Family
You are invited to join us downstairs in the fellowship hall following the 11 am service Sunday, August 8th for a special time with Reed, Amy and Noah Redus.

Please bring notes, cards and pictures thanking Reed & Amy for their ministry.

Family Camp is coming on Labor Day. Please save the dates of September 3-6, 2010. We'll travel to Mount Hermon near Santa Cruz and spend quality and quantity time with your family and friends from TBC. Everyone is encouraged to come. Perhaps it would make a wonderful finale to your summer to be refreshed through play, worship, Bible teaching, and significant fellowship. Speakers are the well known John and Nancy Ortberg. The camp has childcare options for babies and toddlers and lots of classes and activities for older kids  and teens at the same time as adult sessions happen. There are also large blocks of time for parents to be with their kids too. More info is coming soon.

PRAYING FOR THE PEOPLE

OF THE  HORN

In obedience to our call to serve, Tiburon BaptistChurch is hosting its third Prayer Summit for the People of the Horn. The  Summit begins at 1 pm Thursday, September 23, and ends the evening of Saturday, September 25.

The Summit has been described by past attendees as "A Cup of Cold Water for Weary Servants,"  "an unparalleled chance to
connect with the world's finest experts on reaching S*malis," "an excellent training opportunity."

Please contact Lenora and indicate how YOU will become involved in this important work.
MINISTRY COUNCIL
Will meet Saturday, August 7 at 9:00 a.m. in the Conference Room. This is an important opportunity for Ministry Team leaders to reconnect as we prepare for the autumn season of ministry. Please contact Pastor Brice if you cannot attend.
Tahoe City Baptist Church
For many years Tiburon Baptist Church, along with many other churches, have been collecting and donating used ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners to Tahoe City Baptist Church. The money Tahoe City Baptist church receives from recycling these items has been used to provide financial support for the church day school and other programs.

The money collected has been used to provide 4 vans for transporting children to and from school. In addition, the church provides a preschool, before and after school ministry equipped with computers, Big A Club, Parents' Night Out, My Morning Out, Bible studies, and church services at 6 different ski areas. The church averages ministering to at least 100 children each day year round. 80% of the children who attend these ministries do not go to church anywhere. The field is ripe and ready for harvest.

Their minister is retiring in a few years and they are concerned about the high cost of housing to bring on a new pastor. They are starting now to accumulate the funds necessary to provide housing for the family. They would appreciate your continued support by donating ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners.

You have probably noticed the box in the gallery to drop off your used ink jets, cell phones, and laser toners. Please continue to do so. Bill and Jean Hagler will continue to deliver them to Tahoe City Baptist Church.

Wisdom
"Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'"
 Dr. Martin Luther King

Word of Encouragement
"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy spirit, whom he has given us."

Romans 5:1-5
