Waffles & Pancakes

The world is a waffle, not a pancake. Pouring syrup on a pancake is not rocket science. Very little skilled is involved. You simply tip the container in the general direction of the pancake and let gravity take care of the rest. However, putting syrup on a waffle is quite a different story. You must pay close attention to every little square. You can learn just how obsessive-compulsive a person is by watching them when they pour syrup on a waffle. Miss one little square and that little square goes without syrup. A bite of a little square without syrup will remind you that something is missing. Pouring syrup on a waffle and not filling all the holes is much like the followers of Christ not yet reaching the whole world with the fact that God loves them and that Jesus died for them. Someone gets left out.

While the Bible Belt of the United States in years gone by might have been better described as a pancake, Marin County is and certainly always has been a waffle. Receptivity to the Good News of Jesus Christ is defined locally and individually. One size does not fit all. Now, those of you reading this are most definitely receptive to at least hearing the Gospel. You have determined that no harm will come to you in hearing that Jesus died on a cross, was buried and after three days in the grave, rose victoriously back to life. That is what we call Good News and it is meant for everyone. And it is Good News for all - even for those who have not yet acknowledge it to be so.

A significant part of our purpose in this world is the sharing of that Good News. It is my prayer that you will closely examine your circle of influence; you waffle, so to speak. Determine which little squares have yet to receive any syrup and begin the process of determining the best method for sharing the Good News you cherish so dearly. A good starting point is developing a list of the people you know followed by prayer. Begin praying daily for each person on your list and for the Holy Spirit to begin working in their heart. Carefully examine each little square of your waffle and determine the best way to get syrup in it.

50th Anniversary Weekend
The reservations are in for Friday's banquet beginning at 6 pm at the Embassy Suites in San Rafael. For directions to the hotel, click here. Dress will be business casual. It's not too late to join us on Saturday, beginning at noon, for the picnic at the church. This will be a very casual affair with very little programming. We simply want a time to visit, especially with old faces that we have not seen in a while. There will be special attractions for the children including jumping houses, snow cones, popcorn and a special visit from John the Illusionist. On Sunday, we will climax the weekend with a special worship experience as we prepare to move into our second half century.

apmPlanning with a Purpose
Our second workshop with Asset Planning Ministries was held on May 27 to help TBC families with complete financial plans, credit repair, debt elimination, current investment strategies, loan and mortgage modifications. Planning With a Purpose relates every financial decision to a spiritual decision. Hopes, dreams and goals are the points every financial plan must address in detail before a personal financial plan can be generated.  Being Intentionally Successful by understanding and adhering to God's plan for your life and having a written plan is the overall goal. For those of you who were unable to attend and would still like a consultation, email Richard Sweatt to schedule an appointment.
Congratulations!
We want to extend a further well done to our all of our graduates this spring.

Wisdom
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion - it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.
Billy Graham
Word of Encouragement
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:9-10
