Are We Growing?
We had 477 people present on Easter Sunday. That includes
both worship services and the adults & kids in our preschool. That's a lot
of people. We are still trying to find out if that is the largest single day
attendance in the history of our church. It's okay if it is and equally okay if
it's not, because I'm not much into church growth. I am more into church health.
When
our kids are growing up, we don't encourage them to grow, we encourage them to
be healthy. We teach them to eat the right things and to engage in proper
hygiene and to get plenty of exercise and to do well in school and other things
that will help them be healthy. And if they are healthy, we know they will
grow. I really don't care about our numbers other than making sure everyone has
a place to sit and they all get the opportunity to learn and pray and worship
without distraction. I am particularly concerned that everyone is getting
plenty to eat spiritually and that they are exercising the spiritual
disciplines. Good diet and exercise is always important, even spiritually.
I am concerned that everyone loves their neighbor as they do
themselves. And if your not loving yourself, get started. I am concerned that
we love God with all our heart, soul and mind. I am concerned that we are
laying up treasure in heaven and not worrying about our retirement plans. God
has a plan and a purpose for us as a church, just as He does for each of us as
individuals. I truly believe that God wants us to be the very best example to
our neighbors and the whole community around us. I believe that He wants us to
stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. He wants us to be a
lighthouse during troubled times for teenagers. He wants us to be about the
business of healing broken relationships between husbands and wives. He wants
us to assist parents in training up children in the ways of the Lord. He wants
unity in His body. That means that He wants you and I to lock arms and purpose
together to be about His business.
In the midst of churches closing their
doors, laying off staff members because of budget constraints and resorting to
other drastic measures, God wants us to continue to remain on our knees
thanking him for the blessings that He brings our way. God wants us to remain
faithful to the calling to be His church in this place. God wants us to reach
out to touch the broken lives of our friends and neighbors, even when they try
to hide it from us. They need to understand that we are equally broken, but
have found the answer to restoration and wholeness in Jesus Christ.
In the past
two years, we have experienced record giving, record attendance, God's healing
power and other manifestations of His great love for us. This calls us back
to our knees to thank Him. We must give him all the praise and glory lest we
try to take credit for something we had nothing to do with at all. I hope you will pause
right now, bow your head and say a word of thanks to the
God who loves us with all His heart, for He alone is the one who makes us grow. And by His grace, grow we shall!

Finance Workshop Coming
Our second workshop with Asset Planning Ministries is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, at 7 pm. If you have not heard, 49 TBC families have engaged APM's expertise in financial counseling so far. This is financial planning with a purpose. They have helped TBC families with complete financial plans, credit repair, debt elimination, current investment strategies, loan and mortgage modifications. You will have the same access to this expertise at the upcoming workshop.
Planning With a Purpose relates every financial decision to a spiritual decision. Hopes, dreams and goals are the points every financial plan must address in detail before a personal financial plan can be generated. Being Intentionally Successful by understanding and adhering to God's plan for your life and having a written plan is the overall goal.
Remember, all of this is their ministry
to us and at no cost to you. If you want to review their website, click here. If you have other questions, see Pastor
Glenn.

The class is taught and led by Glenn & Janet Prescott and Tom & Gail Jones. Continue praying for this new class and also about your involvement. If you're already in a class and have a friend who might be interested, let us know. It's not too late to join us.

Did you know?
As believers we are
called to be alert and active but most of all we are called to "pray
at all times in the Spirit... making supplication for all the saints. (Eph 6:18)
A few weeks ago we
had a couple visiting our church that told you some incredible stories about
their lives and home land of Turkey. They had to leave because they
are Christians. Some of us know little about Turkey, except maybe that the 7
churches mentioned in Revelations are all within the border of Turkey. What
happened? Why is Islam in control in a place where the early church was established? Are there still Christians there, how many?
We challenge you
to spend 4 minutes today watching a short video for some answers and
maybe for a broken heart for the Turkish people.
Many have wondered
how we could help the Kurada family who is now living in the USA as
refugees. The church will determine our plan for providing some support for them and will communicate that very soon. We will
also keep you updated on their lives here and hope to have them back at TBC
sometime later this year.

Going On Sabbatical
Pastor Glenn begins his sabbatical (three years overdue) on June 7. He will be away from the church for three months, returning the week after Labor Day. Please be in prayer for him during this time through the summer.
Assumption of his duties will be picked up by a variety of people, both on and off the staff. You will hear more from the personnel committee in the coming days.

English Club Prep
Many of you know that Craig & Beth host English Club at Dominican teaching English to international students in the ELS program. This program is a great way to expand the English skills of the students and at the same time for the church to minister to the students. Have you thought about being involved? A training event is being planned to teach Conversational English. The training is 14 hours over a two day period and will be held at Living Word Chapel in Novato. The dates for the training are May 21-22. The cost is free. If you are interested, please notify Pastor Glenn or Beth right away.

H20: A Journey of Faith
Do you have neighbors or friends that don't come to church? Are you interested in sharing Jesus with them, but aren't sure how to go about it? H20 is a 10-week video series that opens the door of the church and the good news of Jesus in a friendly way. Pastor Glenn is available to facilitate a meeting in your home on either Monday or Tuesday nights. Some groups provide a light meal and others a potluck, then watch the weekly video and follow-up with a time of discussion. Complete the whole evening in a couple of hours, 6:30-8:30. These might be the most important 10 weeks in the life of one of your best friends. If you would like to talk more about this opportunity, make an appointment to get together with Pastor Glenn. Want to take a peek for your self, click here to see the H2O intro. Pray about what God wants you to do. |
AutoGift Are you doing most of your banking and bill paying online these days? Are you not able to make your financial commitment to the Lord when you are traveling? Did you know that you can set up an automatic donation authorization at TBC? Simply pick up an AutoGift enrollment form in the Gallery and return it to the office or Pastor Glenn or John Frierson and we will take care of the rest.

Wisdom
"Evangelism is not a professional job for a few trained men, but is
instead the unrelenting responsibility of every person who belongs to
the company of Jesus."
Elton Truebloodl
|
|
| Word of Encouragement | I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the
salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the
Gentile. For in the
gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by
faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The
righteous will live by faith." Romans 1:17-18
