A NEW DECADE
2010 begins a new year and a new decade. Where have we come in ten years since the non-meltdown of Y2K? Where will we be ten years from now or will we even be here? Questions come and go and often we have few answers. However, God gave a command with a promise to His people a long time ago that said, "For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess." Stop and think for a moment about life lived with the blessing of God. Remember, this is not heaven, not yet. But God wishes to bless us even now. This verse from Deuteronomy 30:16 asked the Hebrew people to love God and we are asked the same today. There are many ways to do that, but doing it with all our heart, soul, mind and strength is a must. God wants us to put our all into it all the time. It goes on to say that we are to walk in his ways. To truly understand God's ways, you must know him personally and continue to be a student of his Word daily. We are to keep his commands. We aren't perfect, but we do know when we stray from the truth. I may not be able to define sin, but I know it when I see it. Sin is exchanging the truth of God for a lie. While we are now under grace, God's laws and decrees still go a long way in providing a civil world to live in. Just imagine what the world would be like if everyone simply kept the 10 commandments, at least most of the time. But He knew we would have trouble with them and that is why He sent his Son into the world. God's command for us to love Him is because He first loved us. As we begin 2010, it is our prayer that you will draw a line in the sand and determine with God's help that you will accomplish all that He has set out for you. We serve a big God who has hopes and dreams for each one of us. Isaiah 55:6 says, "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near."
Help for Haiti
In the aftermath of the devastation in Haiti, many of you have asked how you can help. You can give, pray, go and assist in mobilizing others. Through our IMB, 100% of your contributions go directly to the field and are administered by our missionaries on the ground. To learn more about how you can support this long-term effort of recovery, click on this link and continue to pray.
disaster Disaster Relief Training for Haiti

This special training session is in response to those who are untrained and are interested in serving with CSBC Disaster Relief teams in Haiti. The four-hour training session will provide the basics needed to qualify as a trained Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer.

Those attending will receive a Disaster Relief hat, pin, shirt, identification badge and manual. Those trained at this special event will not be on the first response teams to Haiti. Only experienced Disaster Relief volunteers will be allowed to go to Haiti during the first 30 days. After that time, less experienced or newly trained volunteers will be able to go.

This training is tentatively scheduled at the CSBC Ministry Resource Center, 678 E. Shaw Ave., Fresno, CA 93710 on Saturday, January 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register for this event, please click here.

sb Super House Parties

For many the Super Bowl is more than a game. It's a chance to be with friends at home. This year would you consider how you might turn the big game into a big opportunity to connect more intentionally with your unchurched friends and neighbors?

Maybe you have a friend or two from work or the neighborhood who you'd like to introduce to a couple of friends from church.

Perhaps you'd like to host a small party at your house and welcome some friends from church to join you.

Feb 7 is Super Bowl Sunday. In order to facilitate Super House Parties there will be no evening services.

Contact Pastor Brice if you'd like to participate in a Super House Party.
Join us Saturday night, Feb 13, 7:30-11:00, for a GILEAD HOUSE FUNDRAISER celebrating Valentines Day with a fabulous dance band, food and fun. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here or you can see Gail Holmen, Jeff Jones, or Cynthia Klock. Enjoy a fun evening for a great cause.

"Doing Less and Encountering God's More"
Jamey Lewis and his family have lived and worked in Indonesia for the past 20 years. They are committed to living authentic lives of vibrant faith in Jesus alongside their Muslim neighbors and friends. Jamey is also a worshipper and worship leader. From his own ministry and encounter with the Lord over the past years, he will lead us to slow down and encounter the Lord in scriptural story, listening prayer and song. We will also identify and share personal stories of encountering God. Mark the date and make plans to join us for our annual Men's Retreat at Camp Cazadero - March 26-27
Pray Without Ceasing.....your on-going prayer support is an encouragement and testimony to God's faithfulness in our church family. The Keller boys (Reudi & Matthais) are continuing to recover each day. For up to date information on the them click here. Continue to pray for Don Michaelian, Willis Rice, Beulah Eakins, and Irene Hollis during their time of health concerns and recovery.

THANKS FROM TAHOE CITY BAPTIST CHURCH

Due to your cell phone and ink jet donations along with many other churches donating, the Tahoe City Baptist Church has put a bid on a house near their church. The church will rent this house out until the present pastor retires and a new one is called.

Due to house prices falling and interest rates lower, the church of 100 members plus donations, is able to make this move.

Over the past few years the church acquired 3 vans (throuch Campbell's Soup labels) to use in their pre-school and afer school programs.

Thanks to all and continue to donate your old cell phones and ink jets in the box provided in the Gallery.
