OUT 'n abOUT This Week
Greetings!

Well, November is just about gone - into the history books - hope you had a really good and thankful month leading us into the final month of 2011.

I regret this Weekly eNEWS is a little late - I picked up a cold sometime from Thanksgiving Evening to Friday AM -- been a bit miserable and trying to shake it off.  I seldom get colds so I guess it is my turn!!!  Feeling a bit better but still sluggish!!!  Hopefully on Wednesday or Thursday we will publish the Monthly Blurb by Davis, bringing us up to date on all of the  December activities and events.

Have a super good week -- keep your health healthy!!

Sincerely,

Thomas Goodrich

Children of God

Set against the backdrop of a nation grappling with violent homophobic crime and offering a scathing examination of the underlying hatred for gays rampant in Caribbean societies, Bahamian Kareem Mortimer's debut narrative feature tells the stories of three very different individuals: Lena, the conservative, deeply religious wife of a secretly gay firebrand pastor; Romeo, a handsome young black man hiding his sexuality from his close-knit and loving family; and Jonny, the conflicted and creatively-blocked white artist in search of himself. All three head for the spectacularly beautiful and tranquil island of Eleuthera, each with a different reason for escaping current circumstances. Soon, their disparate worlds collide in unexpected and affecting ways. This uncommon portrayal of love, loneliness, tolerance, secrets and self-acceptance takes viewers on a poignant multifaceted journey that is enlightening, courageous, and disquieting all at the same time, and which shocks to the very core with its startling conclusion.

DECEMBER 4

Extras needed for Film Festival commercial! Our second day of the commercial shoot is scheduled for Sunday, December 4, 1:00 pm at in front of the Screening Room.

Please call (520) 205-0061 for more information.

Our commercial is going to be produced around our theme this year which is "The Journey has just begun - The Adventure starts now!"

Because of this a big part of the filming will be of your legs and feet walking to the theatre. So it's important that we show a number of different footwear to make the commercial interesting so if you can bring 2 -3 different pairs of shoes that would be great. (IE: work boots, flip flops, sneakers, business shoes, heel etc).

As there is no compensation for this. You will be given drink and food during shooting, credit in our program for your help, a voucher for one free movie screening during the festival and a copy of the finish trailer and commercial if you would like it.

I ate at the Paradise Bakery and Cafe near UA once during the last days of Oasis and had the best salads and baked goods I'd eaten in years. I have long wanted to schedule a dinner there, but there is little or no parking. Now there is a location across from the Tucson Mall in the center with Pets Mart and Home Depot, the parking problem is solved. Come for salads, sandwiches, and desserts and see if the food is still as great as I remember.

LIFE IS FULL OF PROBLEMS

An old man, a boy & a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey & the old man walked.

As they went along they passed some
people who remarked it was a shame the old man was  walking and the
boy was riding.

The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they
changed positions.

Then, later, they passed some people who remarked,

'What a shame, he makes that little boy walk.'

So they then decided they'd both walk!

Soon they passed some more people who thought they were  stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride.

So, they both
rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how
awful to put such a load on a poor donkey.

The boy and man figured
they were probably right, so they decide to carry the donkey. As they

crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned. The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone you

The value of a Catholic education and a 2H pencil.
Little Susie was not the best student in Catholic School . Usually she slept through the class.

One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was sleeping.

'Tell me Susie, who created the universe?'

When Susie didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.

' God Almighty!' shouted Susie.

The Nun said, 'Very good' and continued teaching her class..
A little later the Nun asked Susie, 'Who is our Lord and Savior?'

But Susie didn't stir from her slumber. Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck her in the butt.   ' Jesus Christ!!!' shouted Susie.   And the Nun once again said, 'Very good,' and Susie fell back asleep.

The Nun asked her a third question...'What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?'   Again, Johnny came to the rescue. This time Susie jumped up and shouted, 'If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!'    The nun fainted.

It's your First Kiss and several questions might  come to mind:

Is it the right time?

Is anyone watching?

Does your partner even want to?

Is your breath fresh?

AND,

---Should you use some tongue?

Then you say . . ..

'What the heck!' and Just Go for it!!!
