WORDS FROM DAVIS:

Will this heat ever end?  Autumn begins this month and October opens the holiday season. Meanwhile, join your friends at MSN for some wonderful "COOL" indoor activities this month - - - -

Monthly Pot Luck

The month begins-nearly literally-with the September Pot Luck and Social at Casas Adobes Church on September 3, 7PM.

This will be a special night. MSN members Tom and Joe are planning Tucson's upcoming gay film festival and are giving us a preview with dinner. Bring a dish to share, talk with friends, and settle back for an evening's entertainment.

We will start with a short film "Mirror Mirror." The main feature will be a gay musical, "Were the World Mine."

We do ask for voluntary donations to help cover the hall rent, beverages, plates, cups, napkins, and utensils. ($2 min. per person recommended)

If you need information or directions, please contact Lee and Merlin at 207-5336 or leave a message for Davis at 325-4754 or by email at  wilcoxgay@gmail.com.

Week Night Movies

Tom and Joe continue their gay film festival with two films this September.

Our last Tuesday night film is a double feature, "Pageant" and "Get Happy" is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6th at 7PM.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1152834/   "Pageant"   is a documentary on the Miss Gay America Pageant, the world's largest male cross dressing competition. This annual search for the country's best female impersonator is savage. Contestants strive to outdo each other with ever more elaborate stage shows. How can this film fail to be spectacular?

www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi1688078617/   "Get Happy"   is a musical extravaganza and a coming of age story. Mark Payne, today a successful Hollywood makeup artist, was raised by

his mother and grandmother to express himself in a most unusual way. Early in life, he designed clothes for both Cher and Madonna and established a successful singing career.   More than just a documentary about someone's life this short film is an inspiration to all who have dreams and ambitions.

Movie night moves to Wednesday with the September 21 showing of "Between Love and Goodbye", a 2008 romantic drama.

Marcel and Kyle are in love at first sight, and even though they can't legally marry, they find a way to make it work. French Marcel marries their lesbian friend Sarah so he can stay in the USA with Kyle. Enter Kyle's sister, April, a former prostitute. She needs a place to crash, but for how long? Taking a quick dislike to Marcel, April methodically drips poison into their happiness. But where Marcel sees a conniving woman with a not-so-hidden agenda, Kyle only sees his sister - in need.

These films are playing at the Far Horizons East Clubhouse at 7570 East Speedway. Alan Herman has arranged for us to have use of this spacious and comfortable building.

Please contact Davis to attend. Leave a message at 325-4754 or e-mail wilcoxgay@gmail.com.
