A Dinner and A Movie Event - -

This will be a special night. Tom and Joe are planning Tucson's upcoming gay film festival and are giving us a preview of what we can expect in the types of movies to be seen and reviewed in coming months leading up to the main event in February.

So bring your favorite dish* to share, talk with friends at dinner then settle back for an evening's entertainment.

* (plan on enough to serve 8)

We will start with a short film "Mirror Mirror." The main feature will be a gay musical, "Were the World Mine."

We do ask for voluntary donations to help cover the hall rent, beverages and eating materials ($2 min. per person recommended).

If more info is needed, please contact Davis at 325-4754 or Lee at 207-5336.

WATCH THE TRAILER

If you had a love-potion, who would you make fall madly in love with you? Timothy, prone to escaping his dismal high school reality through dazzling musical daydreams, gets to answer that question in a very real way. After his eccentric teacher casts him as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, he stumbles upon a recipe hidden within the script to create the play's magical, purple love-pansy. Armed with the pansy, Timothy's fading spirit soars as he puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams. Ensnaring family, friends and enemies in this chaos, Timothy forces them to walk a mile in his musical shoes. The course of true love never did run smooth; it's a bumpy ride. Written by Anonymous

Movie Night Double Feature "Pageant" & "Get Happy"

Far Horizens East Club House, 7050 E. Speedway.

We end our Tuesday night series with a double feature from Tom and Joe's festival collection with two short features, "Pageant" and "Get Happy."

"Pageant"

The Miss Gay America pageant is the world's largest male crossdressing competition. It's the search for the best female impersonator in the whole of the USA and has been crowning one talented faux femme annually for 35 years. It's a hard fight. Contestants are allowed no implants, hormones or augmentation, and competition is savage as every act tries to outdo the others with new, increasingly elaborate stage shows, ranging from uncanny imitations of Reba McEntire to sequined Siamese twin ventriloquism. Really, how can this film fail to be spectacular?

"Get Happy"

A musical extravaganza coming of age story about a boy who has been raised free to express himself.

We hope to continue this film series til Bill and Darrin return to take it over, but we will have to change nights to keep this location. Come for snacks, companionship, and a good evening of cinema.
