Lunch and Museum Tour
Joseph and Larry, our most consistent cultural events hosts, invite us to lunch at Miss Saigon, 1072 N. Campbell Ave, at noon on August 13. Lunch will be followed by a docent conducted free tour of he University of Arizona Art Museum. The museum is located on the UA campus near Park and Speedway. The permanent exhibit of the Retablo from Ciudad Rodrigo is amazing, but no MSN member we've contacted has seen it. All of the museum tours Joseph and Larry have organized have been wonderful. If you've never attended one before, I encourage you to come. If you've attended any of their previous tours, you've probably already signed up. Please contact Joseph at 505-6560 (Home), 576-4276 (Cell) or jos_kell@rocketmail.com to attend. Here are a few hyperlinks for you to check out: Miss Saigon University of Arizona Museum of Art Map of the Campus NOTE: Parking is # 116. Museum of Art is # 2. Tuesday Night Movies
Tom and Joe continue their gay film festival with two films this August.
The Big Gay Musical follows a brief period in the lives of two young, handsome actors, one openly gay, the other closeted, starring in a gay-themed musical. Throughout the film, there are musical numbers with tap dancing angels, a re-telling of the Genesis story, protests from televangelists, and a deprogramming camp that tries to turn gay kids straight. This highly praised, fun film shows August 9 at 7PM.
Dream Boy, adapted from Jim Grimsley's heartbreaking novel, follows the friendship of two neighbor boys as it grows into a love that must be hidden. This haunting and mythical tale of first love shows August 23 at 7PM. Both films play at the Far Horizons East Clubhouse at 7570 East Speedway. Alan Herman has arranged for us to have use of this spacious and comfortable space.

Half and Half at Live Theater Workshop
Lee of Lee and Merlin has once again arranged an outing to the Live Theater Workshop, 5317 E Speedway.
Half and Half is a beautifully constructed new comedy which explores straight marriages past and present in two related one-act plays. With his unique comic insight, Sherman looks at how husbands and wives accept and reject their roles, how their roles have changed and, how their roles just might be changing back. From the author of the smash-hit Beau Jest. The play will -as always-be followed by a gathering at the Village Inn at Speedway and Columbus for snacks, dessert, or dinner and discussion. Please contact Lee ASAP to attend. He would like to have his list finalized by early August. Please call him at 207-5336 to attend. |
