It's Show Time!

Greetings!


Joe Sprague and his partner Tom Forester have been active members of the Men's Social Network almost since their first day in Tucson.    Tom has hosted several "Sunday Dinner OUT" events when our usual host, Davis, was recovering from knee surgery.   They are a very pleasent couple, Tom being the more talkative and Joe getting into the conversation when asked direct questions!!!   You may recall an article about Joe that I published in our April 2011 e-NEWSLETTER -- T Q&A - Joe Sprague

Their past experiences with LGBT Film Festivals in Albany and Chicago have given them an inside to the LGBT film industry which they are going to continue here in Tucson,  with the help of volunteers primarily from the M.S.N.   We will be establishing a "free" club in our network for those interested in becoming involved.  The club meeting dates and places will be determined in the near future.   Special e-NEWS letters will be sent out, as needed, from the club, keeping everyone interested up to date.

Hey Guys,

 

Please mark your calendar and save these dates, February 17 - 19, 2012, these are the dates for the first annual LGBT International Film Festival (Out in the Desert), to be held here in Tucson.

 

We have just started getting films submitted for judging for this 3 day event.  I am very excited about this, I hope you will be to, therefore, we are forming the "Gay Film Festival Club" as an activity for those members of the M.S.N. that would like to join the "Club" and participate in the activities and have free advance preview of any LGBT films that are received for annual judging.  

 

We realize that February sounds a long way off - but it will be here before we know it!!! I'm not only sending this email out to have you mark your calendar and save the dates in February, but I also will be needing some volunteers  as soon as possible to help get this event off the ground. We need to get the "Club" meetings scheduled on a regular basis. So if you think you would be interested or if you know someone that would be interested in joining this activity and help with any of these volunteer positions (listed below) please let me know immediately, by phone at 520-207-8358 - OR - if you need more details, give me a call and we can chat about the entire program.

 

I would like to get a group of people together for a meeting in the next couple of days and set up subsequent club meetings from that point..

 

Here is the list of positions we will need help with:

Writer (Press Releases, Emails, Film Descriptions, Letters)
Film Judges
Working on planning the closing night party
Helping with Sponsors   (any expenses/income will be the responsibility of the  "Gay Film Festival Club" seperately and not that of the Men's Social Network.)
Create and Maintaining the Website
Blogger and Twitter

Collecting email addresses

Helping to get the word out

Social Networking

Creating a Facebook page and maintaining it

 

This is going to be a real fun 3 day event in February - but it will also be a fun time working to put the Festival together through the talents and help of the M.S.N. members.   I hope you will be interesting in getting involved.
