MSN MARCH EVENTS

Sincerely,

"Anything Goes" at PCC
March 4th

anything goes

MSN will host a group at Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" at PCC's Proscenium Theater on the West Campus at 7:30PM.

It may be too late to order your tickets now from the box office at 206-6986.  Be sure to mention MSN to get the group discount if they are still selling tickets.

For further information and to add your name to the group attending, please contact our hosts, Joseph and Larry at 505-6560 to add your name to the count.  It will not be necessary to sit with the group it is "open" seating, we would like to have a "head count" of our group to see if we can plan future "MSN Discount" events.

Tuesday Night Movies

We have three movies in March.  In fact, the month opens with a movie.   (If you missed the first one, sorry, sign up for Yahoo reminders at our Yahoo site: www.groups.yahoo.com/group/menssocialnetwork/  notice:  to join a yahoo group, you need a yahoo ID ((email addy)) to start - then you can change your email setting to receive email from the group at your usual NON yahoo address if you chose to.) )

"Being Julia" (2004) stars award winning Annette Bening in a delightful period piece, a tale of amorous folly and revenge set in the world of the London stage in the late 1930's.  Reigning diva Julia Lambert's success and fame grow wearisome and she falls for a young American, Tom, and begins a passionate May-December affair, but Tom proves to be a social climber and Julia plots her revenge.Julia

"Being Julia" will be hosted by Bill and Darrin on March 1st at 7PM.  Please call 396-9295 to attend.

The second movie of the month is "A Single Man" (2009) on March 15th.

"A Single Man" is a period drama, the first film directed by designer Tom Ford and starring yet another award winner, Colin Firth.  Adapted from Christopher Isherwood's novel, this is a tale of gay life in the shadows in the early Sixties.  Firth plays an English professor on the verge of suicide eight months after the death of his partner of 16 years.single man

"A Single Man" will also be hosted by Bill and Darrin on March 15 at 7PM.  Please call 396-9295 to attend.

The final movie in March is "Kinsey" (2005) on March 29th.

Before he took up the study of sex, Professor Alfred Kinsey (Neeson) was a researcher known for his study of gall wasps.  His human sexuality research uncovered the absence of facts in the public's knowledge of sex.  His 1948 publication of "Sexual Behavior in the Human Male" was the first step toward the sexual revolution.

Sunday Dinners OUT

I, (Davis) will not be available to host the Sunday dinners this month as I am recuperating from knee replacement surgery.

We have a new members and host(s), Tom Forester and Joe Sprague, who will host March's Sunday Dinners Out, welcome and greet the new hosts at one or all eateries.  Three new restaurants and one old favorite are featured and I urge you to attend and show your support.

On March 6, we will go to Seoul Kitchen, a relatively new Korean restaurant in the Crossroads Festival East at 4951 E Grant Rd.  Founded by a woman who had a restaurant in Korea, the food is authentic and moderately priced.

On March 13, we will go to Olive Garden at the Tucson Mall, 300 Wetmore Rd.  While we have been to the other Italian chain, I don't believe MSN has ever attended this popular restaurant as a group, so come and enjoy.

On March 20, MSN will go to Sachiko Restaurant, 1101 N Wilmot Rd.   I know some MSN members tend to panic when they hear sushi, this is a full service restaurant offering other Japanese and Thai dishes.  This is a favorite of guest host Tom, so let's have a good turnout.

March 27, the last Sunday in March, we return to an old favorite, Golden Corral at 715 E Wetmore Rd.  Golden Corral offers good food and all you can eat at a modest price, so come and enjoy.

New host Tom will host all the Sunday dinners in March.  To attend any or all, please call him at 207-8358.

Other MSN Events

In addition to all this, MSN offers Charades, Bowling, Pinochle, and a gay reading group.  Keep busy this month and every month with your MSN!

MESSAGE FROM THOM GOODRICH, MSN PREZ

I want to thank all that make the M.S.N. the organization that it is.

We are a family.

We are diverse in membership, that is,  we are open to all gay and bi (or male friends of gay/bi guys) men ages 21 and older.

Our organization offers an alternative to the bar scene and drinking events, although we do not reject those that imbibe, we do not plan events around "drinking" activities.  Oh - just to set the record straight, we are NOT an AA group nor are we affiliated with the AA, we are just an alternative membership group with non alcoholic social events.

We welcome any and all activities that our members would like to "host".  We are continually looking for hosts that might like to have a small group of card or board game enthusiasts meet at their home, no matter where in town, and on any night convenient to the host (other than on Monthly Pot Luck Night, please!!!)  I have recently had guys ask about "Hearts" and "Rummy" -- sounds like fun to me -- anyone care to host those games once, twice or ? times a month???

I would remind current hosts and prospective hosts, that as long as we have the funds, MSN will help with your refreshment expenses for hosting an MSN event at your home.  We do not help purchase tickets or buy dinners but we do try to find the best bargains and pass them along to our members.

We are entering our 18th year of activities offered to the Tucson gay community - we look to the future with great pride in the past -- get your friends involved, bring a potential member to an event and SIGN HIM UP -- help us become the best men's social organization in the country.

If you are interested in serving as a Steering Committee member or if interested in taking over the helm of the organization (President), please contact me so we can chat and get the ball in motion.

Hugs to all,

Thom
