February 2011: Message from the CEO

samira beckwith

As you know, so many of our older Floridians are snow birds - happy to have escaped the cold north! Unfortunately a number of our seniors live alone, with their closest relatives "back home."

While we may assume they are doing well on their own, that is not always the case. It's easy to find out, simply by asking, "Is there anything I can help you with today?" As Hope volunteers, you are fully aware of the gratification that comes from helping others. It can be a life-changing moment.

This month's Messenger invites you to learn more about Hope's services and encourages you to reach out to those who may benefit. Hope can help you make a difference in someone else's life - as well as your own.

Warm Regards,

Samira K. Beckwith

Do the members of your congregation know of the many ways that Hope can help? Our Faith Outreach Program reaches out to clergy, staff and congregations to make them aware that we can provide support as they face life's greatest challenges; end of life, caregiving, coping with grief, living with a serious illness are only a few of the topics we can present. Please ask your clergy or staff to contact Colette Johns for information. It would be our privilege to serve them.

Sincerely,

Ways to Volunteer

Twins LogoHome Run for Hope

Hope is thrilled with the opportunity to provide concession service at the Minnesota Twins Stadium again this year. A portion of proceeds greatly benefits Hope. Thanks to a remodel and key staff changes at the stadium - Hope will enjoy a new look and renewed energy at the concession stand. The Twins have a packed Spring Training schedule so we invite new and returning volunteers to join Hope at the ball park. Make it a family affair and bring your loved ones to volunteer too. Games begin the last week of February. Contact Joe Pardi.
