January 2011: Message from the CEO

samira beckwith

The day you became a Hope Volunteer, you joined a family of very special individuals. Hope's unique type of care requires compassion, empathy and honor - traits that are abundant in each Hope Volunteer.

While our clinical teams tend to the physical and emotional needs of those in our care, Hope Volunteers are right by their side - providing loving support. Whether you give of your time to support our administrative or care teams or give of your talents to sew, bake or entertain, Hope recognizes how much you give of yourself to benefit others.

The new year is a time for rejuvenation, keep that in mind for yourself. In this Messenger, we offer meditation classes, camaraderie at the ball field, entertainment opportunities and even new ways to keep yourself and your family safe. Your support of Hope is important and so are you.

Warm regards,

Samira K. Beckwith
Hope HealthCare Services
President and CEO

Note from the Volunteer Manager
Thank you, to the many Hope Volunteers that attended last month's holiday parties. It was wonderful to celebrate with you at the holiday cookie exchanges in Lakeland and Sebring and at potluck luncheons in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres.

At the luncheons, there were so many great dishes that it took at least two trips to taste everything. Volunteers shared delightful casseroles, vegetables, salads and desserts. At the cookie exchanges, plates overflowed with cupcakes, brownies and delicious treats.

The best part of each gathering, however, was the opportunity to spend time with one another. Thank you for all that you do for Hope and may 2011 be filled with joy.

Sincerely,

Bob Sheehan

Ways to Volunteer

baseballA Home Run for Hope

Hope is thrilled with the opportunity to provide concession service at the Minnesota Twins Stadium again this year. A portion of proceeds greatly benefits Hope. Thanks to a  remodel and key staff changes at the stadium - Hope will enjoy a new look and renewed energy at the concession stand. The Twins have a packed Spring Training schedule so we invite new and returning volunteers to join Hope at the ball park. Make it a family affair and bring your loved ones to volunteer too. Games begin the last week of February. Contact Joe Pardi to sign up.  Sad Man Phone
