Message from the CEO
samira beckwithIn the words of the late actor Christopher Reeve, "Once you choose hope, anything's possible." In those few words we have a very powerful message on which to reflect during November, National Hospice Month.

This a time each year when we make others more aware of how we can help.

We also observe Veteran's Day in November, yet we realize that one day cannot hold all of our love and respect for the men and women who have served our country. Veterans are part of the fabric of Hope, as volunteers, staff, and those in our care. To our Hope volunteers who have served, we are deeply grateful every day of the year.

As Hope volunteers, you create beautiful possibilities for the quality of life of so many people in our community. In this month's Messenger, you'll learn more about how to support our veterans and how to celebrate the work of Hope.

Thank you for all that you do.

Spanish Interpreters Needed for PiC Program
Hope Partners in Care, which provides supportive counseling and comfort care for seriously ill children, needs volunteers in all areas of Lee, Glades and Hendry counties to accompany the PiC staff on visits with Spanish-speaking families.  Volunteers will serve as Spanish interpreters and need to be fully conversant in Spanish and English.   Knowledge of Spanish medical terms is not necessary.

Locations include patient homes and medical offices by appointment between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on week days.  These are one-time volunteer assignments - as needed.  Learn how you can help.  Call Lynnan Grissinger.

Audition for Volunteer Choir

guitarHope PACEŽ Needs Your Talents
The new PACE program at the Hope Care Center in Lehigh Acres is looking for volunteers who can perform musical programs or provide pet therapy for participants.  Weekly visits are welcome between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the day of your choice.  Join us in bringing smiles to the faces of our PACE clients with your music or your favorite pet!   Call Lynnan Grissinger for more information.

Administrative Support for Occupational Nurse
Volunteers are needed to assist our Occupational Nurse with phone calls, e-mails and data entry at our Fort Myers, Bonita, Cape, Lehigh and Community Center locations.  There is no patient interface.  Computer skills are required.  All data entry, scheduling and computer work are easy to learn but you must be comfortable working on a laptop.  To help, call Barbara Tvedt.

WANTED/NEEDED
Do you have yarn or material around the house that you'll never use?  Our sewers need these supplies and would appreciate your donation to Hope.  Your yarn will become lap covers and afghans for our patients and the material will be used to make bears, pillows, aprons and other items.  Check in your closets and call Barbara Tvedt to donate.
Special Events
Celebrate Life this November
This November, celebrate National Hospice Month by taking time to enjoy life's little luxuries.  Each time you relax, reflect or indulge at one of Hope's celebration events, you will provide the gift of comfort, dignity and hope to individuals in our care and their families.  Proceeds from the sale of chocolates, Hope Floats, Hope-tinis, Philanthropizza and Butterfly Pie will benefit Hope this month.  Yoga classes, legacy giving workshops, memorials and aromatherapy seminars provide peace-of-mind.  Visit www.hopehcs.org for details and learn how you can give Hope.
