Message from the CEO
samira beckwith One of the best reasons to be a Hope volunteer is because every single day, you can discover new reasons to take pride in what we do for others.

As you know, our volunteers and care team members are always asking, "What more can we do to help this person and their family?"

Robert, who is in our care in hospice, has just returned from a vacation with his wife and children. He took his family to Dollywood, in Tennessee, where they had a wonderful time.

Robert had a very strong desire to create this moment with his family, to spend this special time with them. Unfortunately, he could not afford the vacation trip. It was his "Hopeful Wish."

We helped Robert by making his Hopeful Wish come true. At our request, the Dollywood theme park and a local motel generously provided admission and accommodations. Hope helped to arrange transportation.

This is how we fulfill our mission at Hope, to provide exceptional care and support to every individual and their loved ones as they fulfill life's journey.

On Robert's "journey," the only thing the family had to manage was driving through the snowy Smoky Mountains! We helped to take care of the rest, and we are continuing to support Robert and his family on their journey through life.

Thank you, volunteers, for helping us to support Robert and so many others on their journey. No matter what your role is at Hope, you should feel very proud of what you do, and what we do together.
Hands of Hope 100 Hour Challenge!
We are looking forward to recognizing all the volunteers who have attained the 100 hour milestone (or more)!  Help us meet our challenge of 100 percent at 100 hours for 2010!  This requires two hours per week volunteering.  Can you do it?
Kudos to You!
Congratulations to Hope Volunteer Deanna Pavese for winning the Voice of an Angel for the State of Florida. She represented the Diocese of Venice in a statewide singing competition. Deanna and her mother, Joanne, volunteer in the office and Deanna visits our Hope Hospice House at HealthPark. Special Volunteer Opportunity

Take me out to the Ball Park... again!

We are gearing up for another great season at the ball park.  Volunteers are asked to work at least two games.  Please call your volunteer specialist to reserve your spot at the concession stand.  Remember - you need to be able to stand and move around inside the concession stand.  It can get warm, but it's lots of fun!  Shirts will be provided to those who volunteer.  Remember, friends and family can help, too!  This is a great time to bring your spouse and neighbors to introduce them to Hope, and for a fun day together at the park.

Below is a schedule of the games as well as a link to the Spring Training home and away games

Concession Captains are needed!  There will be two captains per day in the concession stand; one opens and one closes the stand.  Captains are responsible to make sure each volunteer has a job and a break while in the concession stand.  Orientation is provided.  Good news: Many of our volunteers are experienced so they know what to do!

Please call your volunteer specialists now to sign up for your dates, jobs, and shirt sizes.

Opening Day (for Hope Volunteers) is Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Dinner (hotdogs, peanuts, and Cracker Jacks) is provided.  Sign up sheets will be available (at the park?) if you have not all ready signed up.  Tee shirts will be available for pick up and you will have a chance to meet your concession captions.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Please call your volunteer specialist before game day to tell us you are coming. All volunteers should attend. We will review procedures, rules, and changes from last year.
