News from Amara

You helped Isaiah, Nate and Amber become a family. Thank you.

With support from our generous community, Amara can continue to engage, guide and prepare more adoptive families. So that more children like Isaiah find their permanent home and lifelong family.

Please join us on May 14 for the Amara Luncheon, our largest annual public event. It is an inspiring celebration of our collective dedication to finding lifelong families for children who most need them. Stay tuned for luncheon updates on Facebook.

Thank you for your continued commitment to children in our community who need both a home and a family.

With gratitude,

John Morse, Executive Director

Ending the cycle of moves: Isaiah is home

Just 20 months old, Isaiah had been moved in and out of six different homes. He had entered foster care as a baby, lived with several relatives, and reunited with his birth mother only to re-enter foster care. The frequent changes left traces: Isaiah didn't know any boundaries. Luckily for Isaiah, his sixth move was his last. Amber and Nathan committed to adopt the boisterous, energetic toddler.

Isaiah is home

"Isaiah was pretty naughty when we first met him," said Amber. However, thanks to the love and consistency she and Nathan were able to provide, Isaiah began to blossom. He learned to follow rules, to get along with other children, and to fit in. "We were pretty impressed how resilient Isaiah was. He just needed a lot of structure and attention."

One year later, Amber and Nathan finalized Isaiah's adoption in court, breaking the cycle of going from home to home. When his adoptive parents asked Isaiah "What does adoption mean?," Isaiah responded "forever and forever and ever."
