Thank you. Your partnership is transforming the lives of children like Davon and Harmoney, whose Amara family story is featured below. In addition, you should know that:
- Since January of this year, Amara families have provided stable, loving homes for 95 children in foster care, including 71 children who will be adopted by their family, and 24 who have needed a safe, temporary placement.
- Reflecting our growing commitment to keeping siblings together, 50% of the children placed with an Amara family this year have been placed with their brother or sister.
With the way that the weather has unfolded in 2011, it seems worth remembering that the real warmth of childhood comes not from the sun, but from the nurturing and permanency that a safe and stable home provides.
I hope your impact on these children's lives warms and brightens your summer. It has mine.
With gratitude, John Morse, Executive Director |

Michael and Christian always wanted to be parents. They chose to pursue domestic adoption knowing that so many children in Washington state need a family. The couple welcomed siblings Davon (7) and Harmoney (5) into their home and hearts.

What resonated with Michael and Christian was the strong sibling bond that Davon and Harmoney share with each other. "Their state social worker explained to us that Davon had taken on the role of Harmoney's protector. We wanted to give Davon an environment where he could just be a kid." Today Davon and Harmoney can act like children. Their favorite activity is making art projects on the back porch.
When looking back at their experience with Amara, Michael says, "We felt like we hit the jackpot. We came into contact with the best people in their line of work." |

"I just want to take a moment to thank you and everyone at Amara for what you are doing. I can't bear the thought of my daughter living even one day without the love and support of her parents. Every time you match a child with forever parents a palpable burden is lifted from the world. I think very carefully about the organizations we partner with... I want you to know that our gift comes to you with heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful things you are doing. It means a lot to us to be able to help support your efforts."
