Dear Friends, Fall has come, school has started, and our sidewalks are once again filled with children wearing backpacks. For children in foster care, success in school is typically harder to come by - moving from one home to another can mean moving from one school to the next. And these interruptions often result in social, emotional and academic setbacks. At Amara, we work to ensure children grow up in a permanent home. When we find lifelong families for children in foster care, we have not only given them loving, stable, and nurturing homes - we have given them a better shot at success in school.
Since January, we have placed 42% more school-aged children in permanent, adoptive homes than we did last year at this time. Thank you for partnering with us to give more vulnerable children in our community a chance for a brighter future. Warm regards, John Morse, Executive Director

| Amara Family Joins Monthly Donor Program | |
April and Andrew partnered with Amara to adopt their son, Guyan, in 2003. "We originally thought we'd adopt from overseas until we were educated on the overwhelming need for adoptive families in the U.S. and close to home," says April.

Now that their family is complete, April and Andrew have decided to help other children find loving, permanent families. Today they are monthly donors to Amara. "We are blessed to have three precious children and we are happy to support Amara in continuing their mission to place children in permanent and loving homes," she continues. "And, donating monthly is easy and effortless." We at Amara are grateful to the many families who choose to support Amara with regular monthly gifts. To learn more about becoming a monthly Amara donor, please email us or call 206.260.1704. |

| Toddler Thrives in Permanent Home | |
Antonette and Joyce came to Amara last year to adopt an African American boy from foster care. They knew that the need for African American adoptive families is high.
When Noah was placed with Joyce and Antonette, he had just turned three. "We knew he was our son from the get-go. His personality fits perfectly in our family," says Antonette. "He had quite some temper tantrums, but we gave Noah all the support he needed to overcome his challenges," she continues.

In adopting Noah, Antonette and Joyce have given their son
a nurturing, stable home. "We teach Noah how to make good choices, how to take care of himself, and to have fun in life. We want Noah to know that he can always call on us. Eventually, when he is old enough to leave our house, he needs to be a confident, self-supportive young man," says Antonette.
Noah's adoption was finalized this spring, and Antonette and Joyce are already thinking about returning to Amara to adopt a girl. "We already know what we'll teach her: Don't settle for less in life," says Antonette.
