The journey toward a permanent home for children in foster care starts with being placed in their prospective adoptive parents' care. A new future in a stable, loving environment starts with this life-transforming placement.
I'm pleased to report that we have placed 44 children from foster care with adoptive families so far this year. This is a 42% growth over our results at the same time last year.
Each placement is a cause for celebration for the adoptive family, for Amara, for our philanthropic partners and most of all, for the child who has suffered abuse or neglect and now has a forever family.

 Ricky's* finalization came on his third birthday, with his adoptive parents and both sets of new grandparents at the cermoney to celebrate.
As a baby, Ricky was placed in temporary foster care to keep him safe from the neglect of birth parents who strugged with drug addition. He hadn't seen his birth parents in over a year when he was placed with his foster-adoptive family.
In his nurturing new home, with constant love, parental care and stability, Ricky has overcome his medical and behavioral difficulties. He has blossomed into a happy, healthy and lively boy. "He's so much fun!" his mother says, glowing.
One year after being placed with his adoptive parents, he was in court to get the best birthday present possible--his very own forever family.
Ricky's parents say they already know they will return to Amara in the future to adopt a second child.

Amara's annual celebration of National Adoption Month will be Saturday, November 14, 2-4 pm at the Montlake Community Center in Seattle. Please plan to join us!
 All Amara families and supporters are invited to enjoy a lively afternoon of fun activities, a children's musician and kid-friendly snacks.
Plus, you can get a complimentary family portrait taken by a professional photography team.
