Dear Friends,

First off, Happy Mother's Day!

What better way to spend Mother's Day than with some great wine and live entertainment!? This coming Sunday, May 13th, celebrate with FREE live music of Brian Clarke at Augusta Wine and Beer Garden. We're making white wine sangria just for you Mom! By the pitcher or by the glass, enjoy our refreshing sangria this weekend while trying to embarrass your kids with dance moves like the snorkel, or the Watusi! - Who actually knows how to do the watusi?! - Free glass of sangria to the first mom to teach us on Sunday! - That's not all.  We know a lot of moms like flowers. Free fresh cut flower to the first 50 moms on Sunday, May 13th!

 

Look for us in Washington, MO! The 31st annual Fine Art Fair and Winefest is next weekend, Friday May 18th through Sunday, May 20th. We'll be pouring and informing under the tasting tent all three days and we'll be featured in a food and wine pairing class on Saturday. For more information or tickets click HERE.

 

Sunset Dinners have started at our sister winery, Montelle. They have started with a Bang! thanks to their new Chef Nick Cipponeri. We're hearing rave reviews on the dinners, the service, the wine, and of course the view! So come out and enjoy your day with us at Augusta Winery and spend your evening relaxing with a Sunset Dinner at Montelle. Dinners are served Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm and reservations are required. For more information or to make reservations click HERE. One more thing about our sister winery.. because we're just so darn excited! A String Trio from the St. Louis Symphony will be performing a free concert at Montelle on Friday, June 8th. The concert will start at 5.30pm and will end just before dinner at 7pm. Montelle, just like Augusta, is family friendly so bring the kids and expose them to phenomenal talent in an al fresca atmosphere.

If you can't make it to the Winefest in Washington, MO for the food and wine pairing class or if you did make it and just want more..  Sign up now for the 'With a Side of Wine' class on Saturday, June 23rd at 4pm.  Learn the basics of pairing foods and wine while enjoying samples of our favorite pairings. Impress your guests with your learned skills or enhance a meal while dining out by being able to choose a complimentary wine from an extensive menu.  Seating is limited to 30 people. $20/person.

Cooking with Wine  


Festively Fruity!
"Drunken Fruits" - Fruit Salad w/Augusta Vignoles 
ingredients 
  • 1/2 Cup Augusta Vignoles
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lightly packed lemon zest (from 1/2 medium lemon)
  • 9 cups (approx) mixed cubed/sliced fruits
    We used apples, pears, honeydew, grapes, & kiwi. Other fruits that worked were cantaloupe, blueberries, strawberries, bananas & pineapple. 
 

directions 

  1.  Place wine in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook until reduced by about a quarter, approx. 7 minutes.

  2.  Add honey and lemon zest and stir until honey is dissolved
  3.
 Place sliced or cubed fruits in a large bowl, pour wine mixture on top and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.

    

There is always room for creative cooking on this recipe! 
Use a frozen fruit mix and put in blender for a cool smoothie.
Fold in some Cool Whip for a fluffier, richer treat.

Use different fruits to mix different flavors.

 

The main ingredients here are wine, fruit, and fun!

The Traminette offers a crisp, medium body and a persistent and refreshing finish. This dry, white wine has a bouquet of lychee, white peach, citrus, and honeysuckle. With a slight spiciness on the palate, this white can be compared to a German Gewurztraminer and pairs well with spicy foods, shellfish, poultry, and swiss or goat cheeses.

Look for our friendly faces out in the community, we've been doing some off-site tastings recently and really enjoy it. We may be coming to a store near you! We'll also be partnering with restaurants in the St. Charles, St. Louis, and Chesterfield, MO areas to feature Wine & Dine evenings, look for us at your favorite place. If you want to see some of your favorite Augusta Winery wines at your favorite local restaurant let them know.
