2007 Norton featured on NBC's Today Show! On NBC's Today Show, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, and winemaker/restaurateur Joe Bastianich encouraged viewers to experiment with locally produced wines by sampling and discussing the seven best regional wines from around the United States, including Augusta Winery's 2007 Norton!
Lauer introduced the segment saying, "if you think you have to fly to Europe to sample great local wines, think again. Wine is now made in all 50 states."
Augusta Winery's 2007 Estate-Bottled Norton was one of the seven wines selected for the segment because of it's uniqueness, superior quality, and affordable price.
Bastianich stated "as we head in our cars to discover America this summer... I think that great added value to your vacation would be to eat locally and drink locally. So drink the wines and the typical foods of where you're going..."
Owner and Winemaker, Tony Kooyumjian, opened Augusta Winery in 1988. Over the years, Kooyumian has worked to produce high-quality wines that represent the uniqueness of the Augusta region. For our wines around the world course you will be sampling six different wines (3 pairs of 2) in a blind tasting! In each pair we will have an Augusta Winery wine and a wine from somewhere else in the world. We will discuss both of the wines and give you time to sample them. Then, we will ask you to guess which is our wine, and which is not
At Augusta Winery we utilize winemaking techniques from around the world. Because of this our wines often pick up characteristics of these wines, while maintaining their uniqueness. Can you tell the difference?
Appetizer pairings will be offered with the wines.
