As of last week, the season officially opened and one of our favorite wines to have with this unique Florida delicacy is Sauvignon Blanc.

When it comes to New Zealand, Cloudy Bay was one of the first Marborough Sauvignon Blancs to achieve recognition in the United States. Still today, the wine is widely regarded as the quintessential expression of this wine region. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is an international benchmark wine noted for its vibrant aromatics, layers of pure fruit flavors and fine structure.

The 2011 vintage of this wine is pale straw green in color and enticingly fragrant, as it offers aromas of ripe stone fruit and juicy citrus, with underlying notes of blackcurrant leaf and tomato plant spice. The palate is fine yet succulent, with zesty citrus flavors and fresh acidity. There is an appealing plushness about this wine especially as it leads into a lingering and characteristically crisp finish.
