HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR SHARES LESSONS ON BULLYING AND PREJUDICE |
|
Last month, Holocaust survivor Aaron Elster spoke to students from three Perspectives classes, encouraging them to fight against prejudice and bullying. His powerful and emotional message painted a clear picture of his life during World War II and exposed our students to the realities of the Holocaust. Aaron told his story of survival against all odds, and helped our students have a deeper understanding of what it means to show compassion to our neighbors. Aaron hid from the Nazis until the end of the war, surviving for two years in the attic of a Polish family. Their compassion and support saved his life. Upon hearing Aaron's presentation, one student said, "After today, I will be different because I won't be as judgmental as I once was. I will be more understanding because I know that people go through a lot."
We were fortunate to have a historical treasure like Aaron generously share his story with our students. His efforts will help prevent history from ever repeating itself and teach our students valuable life lessons that reach beyond the classroom. |

The holidays are a time for celebrating family. Perspectives holds an annual Feast of Thanks at each of our schools to celebrate the entire Perspectives family: our students, staff, family and friends like you. This year, some of our schools used the event as an opportunity to collect food donations for those families in our communities who are less fortunate. The feast warmed our hearts and filled our plates. Our thanks go out to the families who brought a dish to share and made this a true celebration.
