White House Visits Perspectives Calumet Middle School
|
Adolfo Carrion,
Executive Director of Urban Affairs and Policy in the Obama administration
visited Cal-Middle Friday, October 30th to tour the school and health center,
and meet with students, GADC, and LISC officials. Because Perspectives Calumet Middle
School is an Elev8 school, Mr. Carrion visited our
campus to see concrete examples of how community schools are improving students'
and families' lives, particularly in Auburn-Gresham. We were so happy to have
him join us!

Community Leaders are Principals for the Day
|
Mayor Richard M.
Daley initiated Principal for a Day in 1998 in an effort to encourage the civic
and corporate communities of the Chicago area to adopt and support individual
schools. On October 29th Perspectives invited seven Chicagoans to join us as our
Principals for a Day.
Perspectives Calumet High
School hosted corporate partner Ernst & Young's
Kelly Grier, Managing Partner for the Chicago Office. Respected educator,
political activist, and community leader Timuel Black (pictured left) visited
Perspectives/IIT Math & Science Academy and commented, "Perspectives
students are bright, respectful and ask excellent questions." Tim McShea from
IKON joined Perspectives Calumet High School of Technology and asked, "I want to
come back for more - can I come back?" Of course he can! Perspectives Calumet Middle
School enjoyed their morning with motivational
speaker and former NFL player Cecil Martin. Perspectives Board Member Hall Adams
III introduced his dad Hall Adams Jr. former CEO and Chairman of Leo Burnett,
and businessman Robert Foley to the Perspectives Rodney D. Joslin Campus.
