Last dance show of the school year is TONIGHT!

 

"An Evening of Jazz", May 14, 6:00 p.m. in the Theatre.  Admission is free.

 

BHS Dance presents "The World Moves," FINAL SHOW May 11, 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre. Tickets on sale at the door.  $7 for adults, $6 for students & senior citizens.

 

Music Tech students have just released their latest CD of original music, entitled "finale." The CD is on sale now in the Commons during lunches for $10. $4 from each sale goes to Relay for Life.

State Track Meet 

Track 

Members of the boys track team will attend the Ga. High School Track & Field State Championship in Albany, May 11-12.  Directions & schedule online.  The finals will video stream live on GHSA.tv @ 12:50 p.m. on May 12.  Girls finished 4th in State last weekend.  Lady Broncos among state placers.

Brookwood Baseball

Our hero, 2007 BHS grad Justin Lansford, is back in the U.S. & on the road to recovery. The 22-year-old local solider was injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

The Senior Breakfast is May 23 @ 9:00 a.m. before graduation rehearsal.  We will feed all 779 graduating seniors.  If you can donate a breakfast food item, contact Sheila Boales at 770-736-2807 or by email

 

On graduation night, May 23, the gates will not open until 6:00 p.m. The ceremony starts @ 7:30 p.m. No reserved seating. No one is allowed on the field until after the ceremony. 100 handicap parking spots will be reserved in the student parking lot. Carpooling is recommended. If you have a parking or seating question, you may call Jim Haralson at 770-277-4486.  There will be a live webcast of the ceremony.  Details about the webcast will be on the school website in the coming weeks. 

 

Project Graduation, the all night senior party on graduation night, is at the YMCA on Sugarloaf, May 23, 11:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m.  There are lots of activities for the graduates, including casino tables, a photo booth, volleyball and dodgeball, inflatables, door prizes and lots of food and drink!  Tickets for Project Graduation are $25 and will be on sale through May 18 in the Commons during lunches.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  Questions?  Call Mary Muller @ 770-978-6334.

 

We are still in need of door prizes for Project Graduation.  Gift cards to restaurants, stores, iTunes, etc. are all welcome.  Contact Tara or Rebecca for more info.  If you can donate drinks such as water bottles, soft drinks in cans or plastic bottles, or sports drinks, contact Chris Medcalf. Finally, we need chaperones that night to make sure it all happens.  Any non-senior parent (or grandparent) can help.  Contact Tara to volunteer.

 

On-campus parking information for current juniors. Last two parking classes are May 11 & 15. All parking applications are due May 23. No late applications will be taken.

 

Senior Baccalaureate will be at Cannon United Methodist Church, May 20, 3:00 p.m.  Seniors, family & friends are invited to celebrate the Class of 2012.  Complete information is on the PTSA website & in the senior packet.

 

There is a vacancy for a Parent Representative to serve a two year term on our School Council. The nominee must have a student at Brookwood throughout the term which will begin in August 2012 and be completed in the spring of 2014. The nominee would be required to attend 6 meetings per school year where educational issues relative to Brookwood, Gwinnett County & Georgia will be discussed. If you would like to nominate someone, you can fill out a nomination form. Completed forms are due in office A-2 no later than 2:00 p.m. on May 15th.  Voting will occur in office A-4 during the school day on Thursday, May 17th. The Parent Representative's name will be posted on the Community School Office door on Friday, May 18th.
