State Track
Members of both the Brookwood Boys & Girls Teams are attending the Ga. High School Track & Field State Championship, May 3-5, in Albany. Directions & schedule online.  The finals will video stream live on GHSA.tv @ 1:00 p.m. on May 5. In yesterday's competition, Senior Caroline Kissel ran her personal best time in the mile (5 minutes & .098 seconds) and is the new State Champ. Her teammate, Junior QuanDra Shanks came in 2nd, 2 seconds behind Caroline. QuanDra is the new State Runner-Up. The World Moves
This show features choreography by Jessica King from "So You Think You Can Dance."

 

BHS Dance presents "The World Moves," May 9-11, 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre. Join us for an evening of world-inspired dance from Bollywood to American Jazz. Tickets on sale at the door.  $7 for adults, $6 for students & senior citizens.

 

Music Tech CD

Music Tech students have just released their latest CD of original music, entitled "finale." The CD is on sale now in the Commons during lunches for $10. $4 from each sale goes to Relay for Life.  

 

Band Concert

May 8, 6:00 p.m. in the Commons Area.  All four concert bands will play a varied repertoire.  Free admission.

 

Chorus show

Spring Chorus Concert, "A Song for Everytime" TONIGHT, 7:00 p.m. in the BHS Theatre. $5 tickets on sale at the door.

Soccer

Both Boys & Girls won in the first round of the State Tournament and advance to the second round (Sweet Sixteen). Boys play May 8 @ home vs Newnan, time TBA. Girls play May 9 @ Tift County, time TBA. Boys Bracket for the State Tournament. Girls Bracket for the State Tournament.

 

Golf 

Both Boys and Girls play in State Championship, May 7, held in Augusta, Georgia. Boys will play at Champions Retreat Golf Course and Girls will play at Westlake Country Club. More about the State Championship.

First round of the State Playoffs TONIGHT, May 4.  Best 2 of 3 games vs North Gwinnett.  Game 1: Friday 5:00 p.m., Game 2: Friday 30 minutes after first game ends.  Game 3: if necessary, Saturday 1:30 p.m.  All games at home.

Girls won in the second round of the State Tournament. They are now in the Elite 8 and play May 8, 3:30 p.m. @ Peachtree Ridge. Bracket for State Tournament.

The Senior Breakfast is Wednesday morning, May 23, before graduation rehearsal.  If you can donate a breakfast food item to help feed the seniors that morning, contact Sheila Boales at 770-736-2807 or by email

 

On graduation night, May 23, the gates will not open until 6:00 p.m. The ceremony starts @ 7:30 p.m. No reserved seating. No one is allowed on the field until after the ceremony. 100 handicap parking spots will be reserved in the student parking lot. Carpooling is recommended. If you have a parking or seating question, you may call Jim Haralson at 770-277-4486.  There will be a live webcast of the ceremony.  Details about the webcast will be on the school website in the coming weeks. 

 

Now is the time to start thinking about chaperoning Project Graduation.  Any non-senior parent is encouraged to volunteer.  Project Graduation will be at the Sugarloaf Parkway YMCA, May 23, 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.  Contact Tara or Rebecca for more info.

 

Tickets for Project Graduation are $25 and will be on sale May 7-18 in the Commons during lunches.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  Questions?  Call Mary Muller @ 770-978-6334.

 

On-campus parking information for current juniors. Last two parking classes are May 11 & 15. All parking applications are due May 23. No late applications will be taken.

 

Prom is May 12, 8:00-12:00 p.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church at 2500 Clairmont Road. Prom fees must be paid online at www.mypaymentsplus.com. Cost is $100 for any 11th or 12th grader who has not already paid prom fees. THE DEADLINE TO PAY FOR PROM IS MIDNIGHT ON MAY 6.  $25 date tickets (for dates who are not Brookwood juniors or seniors) will be on sale May 8 after school.
