Academics 

 

Students will begin choosing their courses for the 2012-13 school year on February 13.  Elective offerings for rising 10th graders.  Elective offerings for rising 11th & 12th graders. 

 

School is not in session on Feb. 17 or 20.

Payments for AP Exams will be made through MyPaymentsPlus.com until March 9.

 

On February 10-11, the Mock Trial Team will compete in the Gwinnett Regional Mock Trial Competition.  The Mock Trial Team is coached by attorneys from the community & sponsored by Ms. Blankenship. Who is on the Mock Trial Team? 

 

Fine Arts

Jazz Band Winter Concert, February 13, 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre.  Tickets on sale at the door.  $5 for adults, $3 for students.  Both BHS jazz ensembles and the jazz combo will perform.

Indoor Drumline will perform at halftime of the varsity girls basketball game on SENIOR NIGHT, tonight, February 10.

Next up for Brookwood Theater, Dirty Works at the Crossroads, March 1, 2, & 3. Tickets on sale at the door.  $7 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens.

Members of the BHS Reading Club with author Michelle Madow.  During her visit to Brookwood, Ms. Madow spoke to Language Arts classes, the Reading Club and the Writers Club.

Dance Marathon in the Commons Area tonight!  Brookwood SGA and UGA are co-sponsoring a dance from 6:00-10:00 p.m. $10 tickets include food and drinks. All the proceeds are going to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. UGA students will head up dance related festivities. 

The Sadie Hawkins Dance to benefit Relay for Life is March 16 in the Commons Area.  Details coming soon.

Tickets are SOLD-OUT for the Miss Brookwood Scholarship Pageant, February 11, 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre. 

Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to apply for the Brookwood Community Focus Grant/Scholarship.  Students will propose their own projects or programs that address small issues that have the potential to make a big difference.  Up to three grant/scholarships will be awarded.  Deadline March 14.  Flyer & application.

Help make Valentine's Day sweeter for the Brookwood staff.  PTSA will host a chocolate dessert bar for BHS employees.  You can help by baking, collecting or serving.  Chocolate desserts will be dropped off at school on February 13 between 7:00-11:00 a.m. (Nothing that needs refrigeration, please.)  Helpers will collect from 7:00-9:00 a.m. or 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Servers will help distribute to staff on February 14, 9:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Contact Bev Lee by email or 678-344-0255.

Cheerleading 

Parents of girls trying out for cheerleading must attend 1 of 2 meetings, Feb. 29 or March 1, 6:30 p.m. in the Commons.  Try-out info for both spirit & competition squads.  Info about competition cheerleading.  Physical form.  Teacher evaluations. 

Baseball

Brookwood baseball has accepted an invitation to play in the premier high school tournament, the National High School Invitational, March 28-31 in Cary, NC.  Check out this promo video.
