2010 CSA Shares sold out in record time!
So many of our 2009 CSA members rejoined that we could only take a few families from our extensive waitlist. While this is incredibly affirming (THANK YOU) to all of us, we know that many of our waitlist will be very disappointed.

All of our 2010 share members will be notified of their status by email by the end of the week.

What does this tell us.......the word about the values of Buy Fresh, Buy Local and supporting farming through the CSA model has spread. More CSA's are needed. Pennypack Farm & Education Center is committed to helping others who want to start CSA's, feeding more families and advocating for using open space for organic agriculture.
"Give Green" for the Holidays!
Looking for a great way to "give green" for the holidays?  Consider making a gift to the farm!

We have just started with an online giving organization called GiveZooks.

This site allows you to give a gift of any size toward a specific item on our wish list. For example you (and your kids, parents, other family) could decide to help sponsor a WWOOFER, subsidize a low income families CSA share, sponsor a school group.

Please visit the site and encourage all you know to give a gift in your honor (the ultimate "green" present)!

Farmer Raina
winter share
Our very own farmer turned educator, Raina Dominguez, has returned from an inspirational conference held by the Farm Based Education
Association in Tarrytown, NY.
Raina met farmers and educators from all over the country who are dedicated to offering farm based, experiential education for children of all backgrounds.  She can't wait for the season to begin, so she can share all the great things there are to know about organic farming and local veggies!

"Sustainability Movie Series"

Stay involved over the winter and learn how small changes by individuals can lead to big differences for the world.  The movies will be shown on Tuesday nights at the Ambler Theater.  All movies will begin at 7:30pm.    Different panels of speakers will lead the after-movie discussions; other handouts and raffles will be available each night.

Individual tickets: $10.00.  Movie series subscription: $24.00.
Tickets are now on-sale at the Ambler Theater website -
http://www.amblertheater.org/pennypack

If you are concerned about the weather, we have arranged for a "snow date" for each movie so that you can make an investment in the series with confidence.
Snow dates will be Jan. 26, Feb. 16, and March 16.

Please share the announcement about the movies with your sphere of friends. Make it a group date!

End of the LineJanuary 12 - END OF THE LINE - reveals the impact of overfishing on our oceans.  Scientists predict that at the current rate of fishing, most seafood will be gone by 2048.  The movie points to solutions that are simple and doable and will ensure a supply of seafood for future generations.  Check out the trailer at www.endoftheline.com

TappedFebruary 9 - TAPPED - looks at the environmental damage and health risks created by bottled water.  Is access to clean drinking water a basic human right or a commodity to be bought and sold?  Just two startling facts - 40% of bottled water is just tap water (so why pay for it?) and two million tons of plastic garbage created by bottled water  is in landfills, or worse, in the ocean.  This movie will make you think twice before you pick up another plastic water bottle.  www.tappedthemovie.com

Fresh the MovieMarch 9 - FRESH - a positive look at how farmers, thinkers and business people across America are re-inventing our food system to forge healthier, sustainable alternatives to agri-business.  This movie will get you enthused about your food again and get you itching to be in the garden.
