Thank You from Education Department
From all of us at Pennypack Farm & Education Center, THANK YOU for supporting our education programs in 2009. This year we educated more than 2000 children and adults on topics ranging from cooking to soils to the food system. Children from area schools, summer camps and College Settlement Camp enjoyed farming in the Edible Classroom, munching on fresh raspberries and visiting the hens. Adults learned how to can tomatoes, braved the summer heat to learn about edible weeds and discovered new ways to cook the farm's bounty of vegetables.
We are excited to announce that we have a full line-up of programs for adults in 2010. Each month experts such as Christina Pirello, Steve Brill, local chefs, and the Pennypack Farm staff will bring you informative and fun programs. Specific information about these programs will be coming soon.
We hope you have enjoyed the farm education programs in '09 and we look forward to seeing you in 2010.

Eight (8) More Volunteers for 2010 Event Planning Committee |
PURPOSE: The gala dinner intends to attract new donors, grow existing donors, provide opportunities for volunteers to join the board or provide other services to Pennypack Farm, and honor those volunteers and contributors who have already given so much of themselves to the development of this organization. WHAT: The First Community Appreciation Dinner/Banquet aims to have 200 people grossing $26,000 on a Thursday night either June 10th or 17th. We are researching locations now. COMMITTEE: Seven members have met. Another 9 are taking tasks through phone and email contact. Many have strong experience with events, some none; everyone is learning useful skills, making connections, and having fun. Eight more will help: design/mail invitations, solicit auction items and event sponsors, decide decorations and menu, volunteer the night of the event with set-up, registration, hospitality, thank you calls, and more. TIME COMMITMENT: Nine meetings: (we hope you can come to seven of them) Meetings are the third Thursday of the month (except for Dec. and June) 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Upper Dublin Township Hall. Save these dates: Nov. 12, Dec. 3 and 17, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, Mar. 18, Apr. 15, May 20, and June 3. Additional time to carry out tasks in between that you claimed. Will eight more volunteers step forward and help Pennypack Farm grow a stronger donor base from which we can strengthen all aspects of our organization? Kindly, call or email soon if you would take on a finite role in this first big special event, either Susan Curry: 215-591-1551, suscurry@comcast.net Angela DiCarne: adicarne@gmail.com
