Potluck SupperSunday, June 28, 5:30pmPlease
join us for the season's first potluck dinner! Bring a dish to share
as well as your family's plate, cup, flatware, napkin and beverage.
Sunday, June 28th at 5:30pm at Pennypack. Rain date Monday, June 29th
at 5:30pm. Work Day at the Farm - July 3 (4th of July Holiday)
Again this year, many of the farmers will be taking off for the July 4 holiday. We could definitely use help, especially in the morning hours, with the harvest and getting things ready for the CSA pick up. If you have the day off, this is a great way to contribute towards your share duty and help with farm operations. Last year we had over 25 people come to the farm on the 4th and harvested several hundred pounds of potatoes!
Feel free to show up in the morning hours, when its cooler, as early as 630 am and anytime thereafter until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Those of us who will be on vacation, as well as those who will be here, will appreciate your help!

Have a Locavore 4th of July Picnic! Pennypack Farm encourages you to spread the word to your family and friends about eating locally. The Local Food Market will feature items to help make this a reality.
All week we will have bison burgers and chicken sausage. They grill up beautifully. Be sure to check out bison grilling tips at www.backyardbison.com.
Try the delicious, organic small red potatoes from Lancaster to make fantastic potato salad!
With your CSA share, make a fresh zucchini salad: 1/4 cup olive oil 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon minced fresh mint (be sure to pick some at the farm) 1/4 teaspoon salt dash cayenne pepper 1 1/2 pounds zucchini, diced Mix dressing, pour over zucchini and top with Linden Dale Feta.
For a vegetarian entree, grill some portobello mushroom caps, stuff sauteed swiss chard (or other greens) mixed with Apple Tree Goat Dairy's goat chevre. Full recipe found here.
On Friday, we will have burger rolls from Metropolitan Bakery.

Thank you for thinking of us but... We have had an abundance of donations of egg cartons, plastic containers, paper bags and other recyclables. Please, no more donations until further notice. We have no more room!

Share Duty Opportunity Help Out at the Farmers Market Every Saturday, we attend a Farmers Market in West Philadelphia's Clark Park. The market attracts farmers from all over the region and brings fresh locally produced vegetables, meats, cheeses, flowers, breads and more into an otherwise under served neighborhood.
We are looking for some help with the market on Saturday, July 11 as our regular helpers will be taking vacation at this time. If you are interested please contact Andy at pennypackfarm@gmail.com.

Announcing a great new item Fantastic Goat Feta from Linden Dale Farm in Ronks, PA. This farm is a family owned goat dairy. Their feta compares with great feta from the Middle East according to one Pennypack Farm reviewer. The feta is packed in brine, crumbles well, great in salads and combined with the Griggstown ground turkey in turkey burgers.
