The Power of Pink
Ark Country Store and Purina are thinking pink this fall as they gear up for their first ever
Pink 50 Campaign, an effort to unite animal lovers everywhere and raise
awareness and support for breast cancer research. You'll find the top selling Purina feeds, Equine Senior,
Strategy, Omolene 200, Rabbit Chow, Layena and Goat Chow in pink feed sacks this month. Purina will donate part of the proceeds for
every bag sold in the month of October to Breast Cancer Research.
Ark Country Store is during our part to support breast cancer research with the "Power of Pink". During the month of October, Ark Country Store will make a donation on each bag of Purina Pink feed we sell. That's not all! We'll also donate up to a dollar on ANY pink item in store, including Infinia Bison and Sweet Potato and Exclusive Cat Food. Look for many pink items in our store and support breast cancer awareness in October.
All donations raised from our pink items will go towards the Dinah Weable fund, which supports mammograms for women in Ellis Country.
Saturday, October 16th from 10am to 2pm will be our "Pink Out" day at Ark Country Store. You can support breast cancer awareness by participating in any of these events:
- Purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to Cowboy Cooker, proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Tickets are $10 each and available for purchase in our store.
- Purchase a plastic pink egg for $1 and see what your discount percentage is off all items in the store that day. (excludes feed and hay purchases).
- Enter our Pink Egg breaking content for $1. The winner will win a $50 store gift certificate.

Horse Nutrition Tip
| The most important factor for determining the quality of hay for your
horse is the maturity of the plant at time of harvest. Young, leafy,
immature plants contain more protein, energy and minerals than older
plants. As a plant matures, it contains more indigestible fiber
(lignin), therefore is less digestible for the horse, as well as
containing less protein, energy and minerals. To ensure high quality
hay, plants should be harvested at the proper stage of maturity, for
instance, timothy should be cut in the pre-bloom or early-bloom stages
for the highest nutrient content. |
