A Note from Rod and Gay
future home of Journey
I am writing in need of your prayers.  I am a little stressed because we are in the middle of making a 10,000 sf. Warehouse our new home.  We are running into many obstacles and detours.  Our finances are just one of the challenges before us.  The city has delayed our building permit because of many changes they are making in the city planning department.  Our loan is being delayed because of our lack of experience and any real history, plus the fact that we are renting this facility and The Church Development Fund does not usually loan for work on rental facilities.  This poses a whole new set of issues and we are hoping they will see us through this process.
We are absolutely confident that God is calling us to having this 24/7 facility to help minister to this community in ways that will allow us to share the gospel clearly and with great intentionality.
Please pray for resolutions to these challenges.  I believe the enemy does not want this church to be firmly established in this city.  The needs are simple:  We need the city to hire a building inspector so we can receive our license to begin the construction of building out the inside of the warehouse.  We need laborers from the church to do most of the work ourselves to save money.  We need approval of this loan from The Church Development Fund so we can buy supplies and materials to make this a reality.  We have found that the longer we are in this the more the donations by people outside Journey Community Church has slowed down a bit.  I know many people have lost jobs and I hope that no-one has lost interest.  Our financial needs are even greater as we pay rent, utilities and pay for our needs such as furniture, lighting, paint, drywall, and flooring just to name a few.  Finally, our attendance has experienced a "summer slump" which in turn has affected our offerings.  While I truly believe that this fall we will climb over 200 people on a regular basis and our offerings will rise to 5 or 6 thousand per week which will cover our monthly operating expenses, we do have current needs that perhaps you can help us meet.
Gay and I covet your prayers and ask that you would consider making a financial donation to continue the work of Journey Community Church of Fernley.  We know that this facility is just an instrument to help us continue this work to which God has called us.  Thank you for all you are doing to help make this a possibility and thank you for your continued commitment to helping the kingdom spread here in Northern Nevada.
 God Bless,
      Rod & Gay

There is much work to be done before the warehouse is ready for full Sunday morning services....but we do have one partially finished side to meet in when we cannot meet at the High School, as happened this past Sunday. We really need both sides in order to have room for our growing Children's Ministry!!
Here are some pictures of the cleanup of the property and our latest service at the future site:

...........Journey Student Ministry ............

Lyndsay    This past week, JSM took six high school students and five adult leaders to a Christ in Youth conference at Oregon State University. Our students studied first and second Timothy and were challenged to set an example for ALL believers. Each day, CIY presented a new focus: Grace, Truth, Godliness, Influence, Endurance.

Over the course of the week, all six of our high school students decided that they wanted to make their presence known at Journey and start being a part of the Body. Each student made the personal decision to recommit their lives to the call of Christ. One of our students heard God's call to commit his life to vocational ministry.

When we came home Saturday night, our group was challenged to keep pursuing their commitments. Sunday morning, instead of all the youth sitting at the back of the room, our students sat in the front row and invited other students who didn't attend CIY to join them on the front row for the worship service. We even had a few students ask to be baptized into Christ! This Sunday, we'll be witnessing their baptism and the start of their journey in living sold out lives for Christ! Please continue praying for our students and their commitments to the Lord. God has moved and these students have decided to follow Him... no matter what.

  ........First Steps Ministry............
First Steps logo I would like to thank Teresa Reed working so hard to keep the schedule going for the nursery. She has worked hard to make sure our First Steps Kids are learing about the love of God and His word every Sunday morning.  We are growing and would love to take the 2-4 year olds into their own classroom! However, in order to do this we still need more volunteers for this ministry as well as the space that the build-out on the building in our future site location will allow!   Pray for God to send us workers and leaders!  If you are interested contact me: Gay Idle, gay_idle@yahoo.com or call 980-9308
