Our Supporters in Action A Spotlight on: Winter Wish Holiday Gift Drive
The boys and girls in our care felt the kindness and caring of companies, individuals, and families this holiday season as they opened the gifts so thoughtfully chosen for them to make their holiday bright. For some of our kids, it was their first holiday away from their family. For others, their first holiday meal and wrapped present. After opening gifts Christmas morning at our South Hadley Girls Treatment program a teen girl said to her counselor, "Even though I couldn't be with my family on Christmas, it meant a lot to have you here for me and to know people care about me."
Among the generous groups of Winter Wish supporters were a brownie troop, high school student council, and a church community who eagerly collected gifts and donations to ensure that every child with us had a present to open. Corporations and employees also lent a helping hand. Our generous corporate supporters included: Broadway Across America, Oracle, The Parthenon Group, State Street Corp., Symmes Maini McKee & Associates and Walker Parking Consultants.
Organizations such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New England Patriots provided our boys and girls the opportunity to attend the Boston Pops performance and a holiday party with the Patriots players, complete with games, gifts and a visit from Santa. Activities like these are a highlight for the kids and give them a chance to be exactly that: kids.
