Curriculum and Activities

Seven Generations AheadSeven Generations Ahead offers their Fresh from the Farm program, a fun hands-on approach to learning. Fresh from the Farm threads together ecology, healthy eating, organics, and local farming through year-round curriculum lessons and activities. Fresh from the Farm Educator Training includes CPDU credits for classroom teachers, in-class observation of curriculum implementation, guidance for starting and maintaining school and community gardens, complete Fresh from the Farm curriculum and resources, field-based training at local organic farms and school-based garden sites, and more. For complete program information, visit sevengenerationsahead.org.

Truck FarmTruck Farm Chicago, a project of Seven Generations Ahead and Green Sugar Press, is a biodiesel pickup truck with a mini-farm planted in its bed. This traveling, edible garden visits schools, farmers markets, festivals, and community groups, prioritizing food deserts and Chicago's underserved communities.

Comprehensive programming options include tours of the truck, Fresh from the Farm curriculum lessons, gardening/composting activities, and healthy cooking demonstrations. Hands-on activities and messaging prepare kids to understand that what they eat makes a difference in the way their bodies work, how they feel, academic performance, and overall quality of life.
