Green Cleaning Products are Healthier

In August 2007, Illinois enacted the Green Cleaning School Act (105 ILCS 140), which requires elementary and secondary schools, both public and non-public, to purchase and use only environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies.

Why are "green" cleaning products important?
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air is typically two to five times worse than outdoor air and can be up to 100 times more polluted.  Green cleaning offers better environmental performance and improves worker health and safety, while retaining the same sanitation quality as traditional, more chemical-intensive methods.  Additionally, students and staff stay healthier which promotes a better learning environment.
