SWANCC Elist for Educators
Green Chemistry

Green Chemistry is a set of twelve principles and practices that aim to reduce the generation and use of hazardous materials in chemical products and processes which in turn reduces waste and energy consumption. It is sometimes characterized as "preventative medicine" for the environment. By incorporating green chemical principles into the chemistry curriculum, educators can provide students with a positive message about what chemists are doing for the environment and introduce them to this emerging area of chemical research. (American Chemical Society)

Students of all grade levels have the opportunity to learn the principles of green chemistry.
