Shoes Don't Have to Be Garbage
This year, community groups and schools can sign up on their own to become a collection partner for Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe (RAS) program. Because of Nike's new partnership criteria, SWANCC will no longer be involved, but will continue promotion to not-for-profit groups within the region.
To learn how to become a collection partner, please visit nikereuseashoe.com/get-involved. Normally, old sneakers are thrown away in the garbage and end up in a landfill. Through Nike's RAS program, old athletic shoes collected will be shredded at Nike's Tennessee facility. The shoes are then turned into Nike Grind, a material that goes into making new sports surfaces and fields, such as basketball and tennis courts, soccer and football fields and running tracks.
If you don't care to become a collection partner for Nike's program, up to 10 pairs of qualifying shoes can be dropped off at one time at any Nike retail or outlet store, or shoes can be mailed directly to Nike at:
Nike Grind Processing 3552 Avenue of Commerce Memphis, TN 38125
