SWANCC Waste Grant Program
$200 Towards Waste Reduction
Qualifying elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to receive waste reduction items or educational materials, with a value of up to $200.
New this year, SWANCC will make a joint purchase on the school's behalf. Schools may select from a useful list of waste reduction items including reusable food containers, lunch bags, beverage bottles, recycling bins, composting equipment or resource materials. A confirmation notice will be emailed to grant coordinators for pickup availability by mid-October from SWANCC's office in Glenview (2700 Patriot Blvd, Ste 110). These items are consistent with SWANCC's goal of encouraging the practice of waste reduction by reducing the amount of waste generated, also known as source reduction, and recycling as much of the remaining waste stream as possible.
To receive SWANCC Waste Grant funds, a school must be located in one of the SWANCC-member communities shown at the list to the right.
Applications are accepted from September 1-30, 2010, but funds for items are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you have any questions or would like information about SWANCC's other educational programs, visit swancc.org or contact me at mary@swancc.org or (847) 724-9205, extension 204.
