A Message from Honorable James Kaddo Chairman of the Board
Dear Friends,
Our annual Pride of Heritage banquet is only a few days away and I would like to encourage you to attend this year's gala. It promises to be an exciting and energizing event for all our guests. Dr. Najwa Shammas and her entire banquet committee have been working with many members of our community to make this year's event, one that everyone will remember and enjoy. I hope to see you all this year.

A Message from Mohamed "Mike" Ahmar President
Dear Friends, Two weeks ago, the House of Lebanon Artists' Group held their 2nd annual Beyond Borders Art Exhibition. The group started five years ago as a small group of Lebanese artists, and has grown to a diverse group of artists, from all over the Middle East -- Lebanon, Armenia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria as well as artists from France and throughout the United States. This talented group of artists expressed themselves in their work and performances to a weekend total of more than 300 people. We applaud this group and extend to them our thanks for being a part of the House of Lebanon. Mike |

Artist News... Doris Bitar Writes from Stuttgart, Germany Hello Everyone, I am going to Stuttgart to install my pieces in the wonderful exhibit "Political Patterns." I am showing with 8 international artists who use patterns in content-based art work. The exhibit originated in Berlin where I showed flag paintings, map collages and an interactive piece with an original musical instrument. For the interactive pattern and musical piece, "Tarab Soundings," I will repaint the patterns and reconfiguring them depending on the space. The exhibit opens on Thursday, October 19, 2011. Below is a nice clip on "Tarab Soundings" with my explanation and musician, Jonathan Glasier playing it when it was in Berlin: | | Jonathan Glasier improvisiert auf dem Dolcimoon von Doris Bittar |
