A Message from Honorable James Kaddo Chairman of the Board
Dear Friends, I really don't have much to report except to relate to you that the search for a location continues unabated. My family and I will be traveling to New York next week for the Ellis Island Award and thanks to your enthusiastic acceptance of my being sent back to Lebanon after the award I have decided much to your disappointment to return to Los Angeles. HOL Artists' Spotlight Michael Rababy Documentary / street photographer, filmmaker Michael Rababy likes taking pictures of people. He studied art history at the University of San Diego before spending time in Paris. Taking influence from Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Henri Cartier-Bresson, his ethnographic documentary book, American Bachelor details the highs and lows of the single male. His credits include The VICE Magazine Photo Book, Mercedes-Benz, Merkley and Partners, E!, the style network, LA Weekly, the VIllage Voice, and Citizen LA. His short film Still Lives, which tells a story through black and white still photographs set to piano music, premiered at the Palm Springs International Short film Festival, was an official selection of the Miami Short Film Festival and screened at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival.
Michael became involved with the House of Lebanon Artists' Group when he stumbled upon the HOL website while researching a documentary on Lebanon, attended a few meetings, photographed the annual event in Beverly Hills, and helped to promote the Beyond Borders show.
"Both of my parents are Lebanese - all from Zahle, but they made a point to raise their children as Americans. As I grew older, I started to become interested in my roots and interested in what makes Lebanese people unique. I reached out HOL to connect with other Lebanese artists, as I know relatively few Lebanese people in Los Angeles."
Michael continues, "I've been developing a documentary film project on Lebanon, Lebanese people, and their place in the world - focusing on the 'Hummus Wars' between Lebanon and Israel and using that as a metaphor for the continuing conflicts in the Middle East. The film is also a celebration of Lebanese people and the culture, so I'm hoping to talk to and interview many interesting Lebanese people that I hope to continue to meet through HOL."
Michael lives in Southern California with his record collection and is currently at work on his latest masterpiece.

HOL Artist News | NOW
Carole Choucair Oueijan, Artists' Group Chairman writes...
It was a pleasure to see 10 of our HOL artists participating in the Celebration of World Music Exhibition last Friday in The Latino Museum in LA. The HOL Artists' Group would like to thank The Latino Museum's Board members and its Chief Executive Officer, and Curator of the show, Mrs. Ana Pescador for this good opportunity. It was nice to get a sneak peek of the concert coming up tomorrow at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. We were proud and honored to hear a Lebanese musical selection presented by Prof. A. J. Racy! A big thanks to all the guests that came to support our artists, especially: Our Chairman Honorable Judge Kaddo, Mrs. Amira Matar, Mrs. Karen Srour, from LA Beirut Sister Cities Dr. Joanna Medawar Nashef, from The LA Cedars Rotary Mr. Hani Nashef, and everyone who came and enjoyed the night. More photos on Facebook! Congratulations to the participating artists who's works will be exhibited in the museum for the next 2 months. (Downstairs' gallery) Enjoy the photos album below!

Open Invitation
Please join the HOL Artists' Group
as they Tour the LA Arboretum with
Glass Artist Leigh Adams
May 14th at 10 AM
Glass Artist Leigh Adams will conduct a tour to see her public art work
Leign Adams Website: http://laglassart.com/
Leigh Adams' love of art and children and her commitment to doing public art with children have resulted in a variety of differing art installations and activities. Although most of her work is done in the Pasadena California area, Leigh has traveled and worked with children in Mexico, China and Central America for many years.
Whether teaching folk arts, language or life skills, Leigh believes that cooperative learning, achieving consensus and building new skills which can result in public acknowledgement are some of the greatest gifts we can give our children and our society.
As arts become less and less available in our schools, Leigh believes it is incumbent upon us to make opportunities for hands-on learning available to our young people. Public installations are an excellent way to elevate children's belief in themselves, their self worth and the value of their efforts.
Currently Artist in Residence at the LA County Arboretum, she is working on a 960' mosaicked "DreamSnake" using tiles glazed by children at the Arboretum and at area schools, colleges and clubs. Leigh is available for architectural glass design and commissioned work.
