Dear Friends of the House of Lebanon,
Our feature event of the year, the annual Pride of Heritage Banquet is being planned for Sunday, November 14th at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This year the House of Lebanon has the distinct honor of recognizing Mr. James N. Koury as this year's recipient of the Ray R. Irani Pride of Heritage Award. We hope you will make plans to attend this outstanding event.
The Beyond Borders Art Exhibition last month was a huge success thanks to the HOL Artists' Group. Take a moment and enjoy viewing the photo highlights of the event.
If you have any information you would like us to share with the House of Lebanon community, please email us at editor@HouseofLebanon.com.

A Message from Mohamed "Mike" Ahmar President
Recently I was asked, "What does the House of Lebanon do?" It appeared that the House of Lebanon is simply groups of people getting together at gala banquets, golf tournaments and annual picnics. Yes indeed! The House of Lebanon is the common link that unites all of us who enjoy sharing Lebanon's unique culture and heritage. Our mission statement "encourages all our people and their friends to meet, socialize, and enjoy..." We hope that each of you will come to our Pride of Heritage Banquet on November 14th and take advantage of this opportunity to network with other Lebanese, Lebanese Americans and all our friends from around the world. The House of Lebanon brings people together. Be part of the House of Lebanon and join us for an evening of friends, fun and entertainment for this year's gala banquet honoring James N. Koury.

ART EXHIBITION THANK YOU
Dear HOL Sponsors and Board Members,
Carole and I wish to thank each and every one of you for your support and for sponsoring our first HOL Artists' Group Gallery art Exhibition. Thank you for trusting and believing in us to bring this effort to fruition. We thank you for championing the arts and for leading the way in creating an event like this one which serves as a great example of the many cultural events that can become possible at the future 'House of Lebanon'.
As those of you who were there have witnessed, we had a wonderful turnout and our guests were delighted to see our artists' work and witness our efforts. We hope we made you proud. Carole was recounting that someone suggested that we have a show like this twice a year. Well, that seemed ambitious but we understood it as a token of faith in our work and ability to organize and create such a nice art experience to share with the community at large.
I would like to personally thank Carole for entrusting me to help her in directing the Exhibition part. I truly enjoyed working with her and with Karen's leadership and great organizational skills and all those who stepped in to help us. Thanks to Alek for all his help and assistance throughout the show. We enjoyed every step of the process. We know you agree with us that the work speaks for itself and certainly delivers each artist's unique voice they shared with us during the show. What a colorful and diverse group we are!! We felt honored to be part of this journey along with you.
As Carole had expressed so well in her speech at the reception, some of us did not know the 'other' despite the fact that we had once lived in the same country or region, until we came to the US and were able to gather the fragmented pieces of our Lebanese or/ Middle Eastern communities, meet other artists who share ancestry with us and connect with each other through our art, thanks in big part to the House of Lebanon. It is through such interactions that we can build upon our connections and through our art that we can promote a greater understanding about who we are to the outer community in Southern California.
Thanks to all the artists who participated this year. You were the show! This was a group effort indeed and we hope we met everyone's expectations. We are eager to generate another show together again next year. Thank you, you made this event possible!
With much respect and appreciation,
Reem Hammad 'Beyond Borders' Exhibition Director

News from Our Friends Around the World Michael Alti, HOL-YP Executive Committee member writes ...
It's very exciting that the Bay to Bay Bike Tour to Fight Multiple Sclerosis is almost here. This Saturday, God willing, I will be biking 100 miles with the 24 Hour Fitness team along the beautiful California coast from Irvine to San Diego. Thanks to the generous donations of my supporters, we've raised $2,075 so far! I'm especially proud to be part of this amazing event -- the biggest charity biking event in the USA -- that has raised $2 million this year!
