HOL Artists' Group Spotlight
"Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life." -- Picasso.
Dalah J. Faytrouni
Born in Tripoli, Lebanon, Dalah attributes, "the beauty and rich culture of my birthplace," to what first awakened the inner inspiration and adventure to express herself through art. It has been said that painting is the window into the artists' soul. Dalah continues, "if that is the case, you have been with me as I explored the journey which lay ahead." The talent she shares with her audience has been a gift from God. It is her hope to have captured a bit of the beauty He has created.
Lebanon the Blooming Flower After War
Dalah takes pleasure in being able to share her unique outlook of life through the wide array of subject matters readily available. A piece of art will awaken emotions hiding in the inner soul of every breath taken in life. Through the adventurous search for an expressive technique, for her inspiration to create a unique piece, she hopes to evoke and set free those emotions. Three years ago, Dalah contacted Kanan Hamzeh, President of the House of Lebanon and inquired if he was interested in our organization supporting Lebanese art. At that meeting which also included Carole Choucair Oueijan, Artists' Group Chairman, the Artists' Group grew. Dalah was appointed the group's secretary and today, the Artists' Group is still growing with accomplished artists from a various cities in Los Angeles and neighboring counties. Liberty Walk Dalah's involvement with the House of Lebanon is her connection to her roots and allows her to share her passion of art with her Lebanese community. It is Dalah's desire,"to spread the Lebanon dream through every one of us and to build a house for many generations to come and to unite under one roof." Dalah currently resides in Rancho Cucamonga.

HOL Artists' Group San Diego Mosaic Tour
On Saturday, April 11th the HOL Artists' group traveled to San Diego to tour the Museum of Man in Balboa Park and to see the MAI - Mosaic Art International, the best in contemporary mosaics from SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists). The group discovered the wonderful medium of mosaic.
An artistic discussion took place during lunch in the Prada restaurant. Afterward, the artists had the chance to visit the San Diego Art Institute and some areas in Balboa Park before heading to the largest stained glass mosaic mural of its kind in the world, Villa Harvey Mandel. It was commissioned in 2001 for $1.5 million. The glass mosaic artwork was one of the last pieces by world renowned artist/designer Mr. Italo Botti, and was sadly completed four months after Mr. Botti's death.
The last stop was the most inspiring place on the trip, The Queen Califia's Magical Circle by artist Niki de Saint Phalle, the largest American sculpture garden. The garden was inspired by California's mythic, historic and cultural roots. Everyone's childlike qualities came forth, looking, touching and admiring these wonderful sculptures of Niki. The artist passed away one year before the completion of that magical garden.
 Glass artist, Leigh
Adams summarized the day, "Thank you everyone who made this possible! I
enjoyed meeting and spending time with each and everyone of you! The
HOL Artist's organization was brilliant! Everyone's company was just
the best possible! Thank you so much!" The HOL Artists' Group invites all artists to join their group and invites all art lovers to join their activities. For information on joining the Artists' Group, contact Chairman, Carole Choucair Oueijan at ArtbyCarole@msn.com. |

In April, this report was published by the Divan of the Western Diocese on their website.

auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the
Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, the

was long overdue. Thanks to the initiative of His Eminence Archbishop

Lebanese American Foundation, we have the opportunity tonight to get to
know one another and exchange our experiences." Upon the conclusion of
his remarks Mr. Kendirjian introduced the Chair of the Diocesan Council

early years of the 20th century.
Several other distinguished guests spoke during the evening,
