FaithBridge Foster Care May Newsletter

Greetings!

The spring season of renewal is upon us, and we've seen many positive events in the last few weeks. The Georgia State legislature passed an important bill that goes a long way in protecting the rights of the state's foster children, and we are continuing to bring many new churches and families into our community.

May is also National Foster Care Month, and I encourage you to think about what you can do individually, or as a church, to help our nation's foster children.

God bless,
Bill Hancock

Georgia legislature passes Fostering Connections (HB 1085)
On April 19, the Georgia Senate voted unanimously to pass HB 1085, also known as Fostering Connections. This important bill addresses the stability and well-being of Georgia's foster children. Its primary provisions include requirements that siblings be placed into foster care together, that foster children be allowed to remain in their current school (if possible) and that DFCS provide counseling to young adults who are aging out of the foster care system.

It's now on to Governor Purdue for signature.
