Jesus repeatedly promises to set His followers free, and New Testament writers liken His passion and resurrection to the Exodus, when God freed the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. As we approach Easter, then, it is a good time to reflect on what freedom in Christ means. This retreat offers an invitation to explore a range of spiritual practices that can help us begin to experience the freedom that Jesus offers. In particular, we will explore the ways in which Jesus can lead us out of some forms of bondage that we inflict on ourselves. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Clair+ at: revclair@gmail.com or +43 646720107 for a conversation.
So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." John 8.36

An Exceptional Reader in Florence: Vernon Lee's Books in the Archive of the British Institute
Lecture at the British Institute on Tuesday, March 6 at 6:00 PM.
The author of over 40 books on a range of subjects from aesthetics to music, and from fiction to literary criticism, the Anglo-Florentine novelist and critic Vernon Lee (pseudonym of Violet Paget, 1856-1935) was considered to be one of the leading public intellectuals of her era. But she was not just a remarkably prodigious writer; she was also an exceptionally voracious reader, and for much of her life, she kept a meticulous record of her own reading. By examining Vernon Lee's marginal notes, we can get a far better flavour of what she read, how she read, when she read, and how she reacted to the ideas that she encountered. In this talk, Dr Towheed (The Open University) will examine examples of her reading and marginalia, and explain why these books are an invaluable resource in uncovering the reading practices of a remarkable intellectual who was perhaps the most gifted reader in Florence at the time.Tel: 055 26778270
