Christ's College Chapel Choir and Schola Cantorum
On Thursday, July 21 at 8 PM, St. James is honored to welcome the Christ's College Chapel Choir and Schola Cantorum.
Christ's College is an independent Anglican boys' school based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The Chapel Choir is one of the largest male voice chapel choirs in the country and comprises 80 members. Forty-five of those young men and boys, directed by Mr Robert J. Aburn, will be touring Europe this month, to give outstanding choral performances and in spite of the adversity they faced earlier this year.
Christ's College will begin their tour in Paris where they will perform four concerts, including one at the New Zealand Embassy. From there they will travel to Salzburg to give two performances before arriving in Venice-Mestre. After their stay in Florence the tour continues to Rome, Via Assisi and culminates in a mass participation at St Peter's Basilica.
The concert at St James' Episcopal Church on Thursday 21 July is not to be missed. This choir performs to an exceptional level and the audience will be delighted by a programme that includes works by Brahms, Bruckner and Faure as well as works by New Zealand composers, including one piece specially commissioned for the tour and written by Philip Norman. Jeremy Woodside will accompany the choir on the organ.
Everyone is invited.
Entrance is free of charge. Free will donations will go to the Church's Outreach Program.

When Stefano Massini first learned about the death of Anna Politkovskaya he created more than a play. He created an opportunity for those of us who work on it and those who see it to think about the world in which we live. To consider the question of 'who is our enemy?'

More than just a building, it is an architectonic system on an urban scale, the result of the close collaboration between the Duke, Cosimo I dei Medici, and Vasari, his favourite artist.
