Greetings!
Tractor trailers are lining up at our loading dock. UPS and FedEx are regulars. Everyone is delivering their new brochures. We are going on four runs a day, with lots of overtime. It must be peak distribution season!
Our winter acquisition of Kingdom Brochure Distribution has meant a lot of miles in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I've met some wonderful people and seen such beautiful sights.
Our new distribution program on the Lake Champlain Ferries is going extremely well. I've installed eight new handsome brochure displays, possibly filled with your brochures. And then we get to watch them get taken by eager ferry travelers.
We've even got a great new video, touting the success of brochures.
As always, I welcome any feedback, questions, comments or praise.

Sincerely,
Bill Orleans, Owner

Funny Brochure Story of the Month
On a recent trip to the Northeast Kingdom, I noticed a lot of Johnson Woolen Mills brochures in our displays. They are a good client, but they really shouldn't be in four slots. Hmm. First, I asked my employees to see if they were being bribed with free clothing. Then I caught Johnson Woolen Mills owner and my friend Stacy Manosh at a recent Jay Chamber meeting. She explained that her eighty- year-old mom has two cases of brochures in her car at all times. She takes much pride in putting out Johnson brochures and calls with excitement every time she finds a rack and stuffs it full.
Then Stacy told me, as a young child, her extremely busy father, Del Barrows, would ask her if they wanted to go for a drive - just the two of them. The excitement of this special time quickly turned into delivering brochures up and down the Mountain Road in Stowe. Apparently no one could refuse a ten-year-old Stacy.

PP&D Attends and Presents at the Vermont Travel Industry Conference
It was a great conference in Killington last month. PP&D's 25th year of attending. Highlights included: a Meet the Consultants session (where I presented), The Vermont Tourism and Marketing Presentation of Current Research and Initiatives, a very funny and informative keynote address by Troy Thompson on Travel Trends, and the Tourism Town Meeting.
Some of my favorite workshops were O'Canada - Marketing to Our Northern Neighbors, New Cultural Heritage Initiatives, Vermont Brand Marketing, and Meet The Press - Prepare Your Best Media Pitch.
The Vermont Travel Industry Conference really is a must do for anyone in the tourism industry. If you missed this one, be sure to catch it next year. Details soon....

Brochure Distribution Q&A
How can I tell if I have a good brochure? Check out the International Association of Professional Brochure Distributors' Brochure Test on their website to see how you stack up. If your brochure scores poorly, watch a great video on how to design and print an effective brochure. Also check out PP&D's Top Ten Tips for brochure design.
What is a Vermont Attractions Rack and why isn't my brochure in it?
The Vermont Attractions Association (VAA) is a membership organization of most of Vermont's finest attractions. They produce the Vermont Attractions state map. They also have a cross marketing program that places a special VAA brochure display at every member's locations and then distribute all VAA member's individual brochures to those displays. PP&D established this program in 1989 and is their designated distributor.
Click here if you are Interested in more about VAA.
How many brochures do I need?
That is the toughest question I get. There are so many factors: the popularity of your business, the attractiveness of your brochure, regions desired and number of months of delivery. I have tried to provide ball park numbers on my website. Let me know if you have any questions.
Can I pick and choose the distribution locations for my brochure?
Sorry, we do not provide that service. With dozens of brochures in the vans it would be very hard. Besides, everyone wants your brochures, so let us put them everywhere!
If we have a PP&D Brochure Display, can we get a free distribution?
Sorry, I'm sure that sounds good to you. But most of our clients have displays and with that business model, we would be out of business very quickly (and you wouldn't like that).
