Greetings!
We are wrapping up our 30th summer of brochure distribution. It may have been our busiest ever. Brochures and magazines are just flying out of our displays. More Canadians than I can ever remember are crossing the border - and they really like brochures!
We've also been busy placing new displays. Some of the most exciting are at the newly renovated Queeche Mobil Station - right off of Rt 89, Arbortrek - the new canopy zip lIne adventure tour at Smugglers Notch, and we are replacing our old outdoor display at the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Burlington's boathouse dock.
I'm also very proud to have been name the Vermont Travel Person of the Year by the Vermont Travel Industry Conference (see article below).
We are now looking forward to the fall and winter. Some clients should be receiving their new 2011-12 proposals soon. Please let me know if you do not receive yours.

As always, I welcome any feedback, questions, comments or praise.
Sincerely,
Bill Orleans, Owner

Our 2011 Perfect Partner Award Winner
Congratulations to Jay Peak Resort! A Perfect Partner is a distribution client who also hosts PP&D brochure displays.
We distribute the Jay Peak Summer and Winter Magazines, Golf Brochure and soon the new Pump House Water Park brochure. Opening this December, The Pump House will be a huge indoor water park, featuring The Aqua Loop, Surf Wave, Hot Tubs and a Lazy River. Jay hosts PP&D brochure displays at Tram Haus Lodge, The Rental Shop, The Information Center and at the Stateside Lodge. Jay Peak is also a Vermont Attraction Association member and participates in their member-to- member brochure distribution program, established by PP&D in 1994.
And did we mention, they have a pretty awesome mountain too!

Surviving High Waters
Our heart goes out to everyone who lost so much as a result of the devastating effects of Tropical Storm Irene.
I spent time working with folks from the Waterbury Tourism Council cleaning up homes that were hit very hard.
The spring record-high waters of Lake Champlain had no long term effects at PP&D. But our warehouse driveway and ramps were under water and unusable for a very long month and a half.
We also had over two feet of water in our loading dock. There were little lake fish swimming there 'til late July. Then we caught and moved them to the barge canal - Born Free!

Vermont Travel Person of the Year: PP&D Owner Bill Orleans
At the April 2011 Vermont Travel Industry Conference, I was recognized as the Vermont Travel Person of the Year. I was extremely surprised and very honored by this award. It is given to a member of the Vermont community who contributes significantly to Vermont's travel & tourism industry. The winner enforces the Vermont brand, helps position Vermont as a friendly and fun place to visit, promotes the value of tourism to the state's economy, and exemplifies what is good within the travel industry. As my nominees stated, "PP&D has become an integral part of the marketing plan of travel related businesses throughout Vermont."
Thank you to Tom Shampnois and David Kaufman for nominating me, and to the entire tourism community who make it a pleasure to work in this industry.

Brochure Distribution Q&A
What is the most important part of brochure design? THE TOP ONE THIRD. Very often that is the only part a visitor will see in the display. Big bold title is also very important. There is no such thing a subtly in brochure design. Looking for more great tips? See our top ten tips. What is a Vermont Attractions Rack and why isn't my brochure in it? - The Vermont Attractions Association is a membership organization made up of most of Vermont's finest attractions. They produce the Vermont Attractions State map. They also have a cross marketing program that places a brochure display at every member and everyone's brochures in each display. PP&D established that program in 1989 and is their designated distributor. Interested on more about VAA.
How do I get my brochures at the rest stops?
For Vermont locations, e-mail Cindy Roberts or call her at 802-265-2210. The also have a very informative website
For some New York locations, check the PP&D Website Other Distributors Page.
How many brochure do I need?
That is the toughest question I get. There are so many factors; the popularity of your business, the attractiveness of your brochure, regions desired and number of months of delivery. I have tried to provide ball park numbers on my website. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Can I pick and choose the locations?
Sorry, we do not provide that service. With dozens of brochures in the vans it would be very hard. Besides, everyone wants your brochure!
If we have a PP&D Brochure Display can we get a free distribution?
Sorry, I'm sure that sounds good to you, most of our clients have displays and we would be out of business very quickly and you wouldn't like that.
Who should print my brochure?
There are many fine printers. But sure they have experience printing tourist brochures and rack cards. PP&D can recommend some great printers who can produce for a great price.
